Mobile hotspot randomly turning on by itself?

Is there any way that the mobile hotspot on a Samsung Galaxy S8 could be turning on by itself? That's what my husband says is happening to his, but I have the exact same phone and have never had this issue?

I can tell that his hotspot is on when i go into my wifi connections and see his phone listed. I believe that he is using the mobile hotspot on his phone to power a "burn phone" but wanted to ask if there are any other possibilities before I confront him.

I think you need help from another kind of expert, not a cellphone expert. We don't handle matrimonial problems here.

But, yes, it's possible, if he has a shortcut to the hotspot on his desktop, and it gets hit when he puts the phone into his pocket or puts it down (or even grabs it without looking where he's putting his fingers), but not just "by itself". If it does that he should reflash the firmware - something is wrong with his phone.
