I have locked my phone using fingerprint but i can still unlock my phone by swiping it

My phone is samsung s6 edge when i lock it and then unlock i can just swip to open my phone again without my finger print

To what interval of time is your screen lock set after the screen is switched off or times out?

I experienced this same feeling awhile back for the very reason belodion mentioned. My timeout for the lock was 1 minute but if I closed and then opened the phone in less than that it would appear to be unlocking without the code, or whatever I was using. If you go to your security screen where you set up your finger print there should be a setting for lockout. For mine it's a gear next to screen lock.
