Why doesn't my phone do its system update at the time I schedule?

[Android Central Question]

I scheduled my update for 3am, it updated at about 10:30am while I was using it. I can only offer my usage at the time; any additional information i'll have to be told how to get to. My phone was on, not in use, and charging at the scheduled time, I was in a Discord (VoIP app) call at the time of update.

Galaxy Note 8, T-Mobile, the "you won't be able to use your phone while it's updating, even to call 911" update i think that's software

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have a setting that causes the phone to automatically power off and restart on a regular basis? If so, maybe that interfered.

I don't think that I have such a setting.

I recall that some Samsung phones have this option, but not all -- it might depend on the model, and possible the carrier variant.

It's true depends on carrier and its possible you kept ignoring it and it finally automatically downloaded
