Multiple Google accounts syncing unwanted contacts

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read my question and posting answers.

My problem is the following: I have several Google accounts (on different domains) that are syncing to my U11 (great phone btw!).

The setup should be like this;

• Personal domain: sync everything but calendar
• Work domain: sync only calendar

This is easy enough to setup but I've noticed that it screws up my contacts. Allthough the list in my caller app only shows the personal domain contacts, when I search I also can choose the work contacts. Further more my contacts have double phone numbers in my car.

I've gone through all the settings and there is nothing more that I can do. Do you have any idea how to fix this?

Well, I don't know about your HTC phone, but in basic Android (as in Nexus and Pixel phones), Settings -> Users & accounts -> [select an account] -> Account sync -> [choose what to sync / not sync]
