Lenovo Phab 2 is automatically switching on Mobile Data

I am facing an issue with PB2-650M on Android 6.0 Kernel 3.18.19+.

When on wifi, it just automatically switches on the mobile data when wifi is out of range or even when the device sleeps. I am not 100% sure, what triggers it. But I see that the "Data Connection" icon from the pull down menu is active. The only alert I see is the dialog box seen below.


I want an option to ALWAYS disable mobile data. This device is used by my mom and she keeps accidentally touching the screen and only realizes when the credit in the phone runs out. The provider also has no option to disable data usage on the number.

This reminds me of the wifi assist feature in iphone which can be easily disabled.

Welcome to Android Central. There is a setting that turns on mobile data if wifi signal gets below a cutoff. I would look for that, but you should be able to turn mobile data off in Settings, Network (may be different on your device).
