I have traveled overseas extensively and as as long as your device supports GSM bands 900/1800 (for plain old GSM) and 2100 (for UMTS/HSPA) which the Moto X 2014 does you are good to go.
LTE is a little trickier as not all prepaid plans support LTE yet and Europe uses different bands than North America as well, having said that the Moto X 2014 does support some European LTE bands,so you may be in luck there.
So, baring LTE compatibility which is not required, you are good to go in any European country.
