How to get apps to remain open on home screen

Hello, I used to have my S Planner and S Memo open on the home screen of my galaxy s4, so when I scroll through the screens I can see my calendar and note pad without having to open up the apps. Something happened and they are now gone from the home screen, and I have to open them up to see everything. Does anyone know how to get them back to remaining open?

I think what you are talking about are Widgets for those apps, which allow you to see info from the app on the home screen without opening the app. Sometimes updates to the system or apps remove those widgets and you need to set them up again.

So touch and hold a blank spot on your home screen, choose "widgets", then select the one you want, touch, hold and place it where you'd like. Here is a good animation - it comes from Sprint but should be the same on the S4 irrespective of the carrier.
