Galaxy S8 / S8 + Battery Life Thread

And it don't even bad signal. So I'm so confused and frustrated especially considering that I'm turning off a lot of features to try and save battery.

But still no one has been able to figure out my issue or point me in the right direction.

But you aren´t alone on that boat. My highest Sot was around 4h Sot. Good signal, no games, just some social Apps. This battery was been worst than in my previous S7 edge. Even the standby drain looks higher on S8.
Just installed BBS and i have a kernel wakelock that i can´t find no info - "128060000.decon_f"
Someone knows anything about this wakelock ?

Have I been reading this wrong all this time? You said 3 hours and 45 minutes, but your screen shot seems to show over 4 hours , which is not terrible.

Yeah I don't know why it says that cause I've never seen 4 hours sot on my phone. As an example if you look at this screenshot i have 1h45 of sot and I'm half way through the battery. Means I won't pass 3:30/3:45.
Not sure why it says 4 hours cause that neevr happened to me.
And anyway 4 hours is pretty crappy compared to the rest of you who get between 6 and 9 hours without turning off all the features of you phone like I have to do.

I'm pleased with my screen time and battery use. I have a UK version S8+ and didn't have great signal for about 4 hours yesterday.

I'm french and a light user about 48 hours later (fully charged on the day i got it) very impressed tbh numbers aren't huge but the standby is amazing imo !

j'ai désactiver beaucoup d'appli pourriel et j’utilise metal pour remplacer facebook+messenger.En gros,j'ai fais beaucoup d'optimisation (première chose que je fais sur chacun de mes téléphones) mais encore la ta durée de pile dépend toujours de ton utilisation aussi.

I see dramatically different battery life when I'm at work or when I'm at home on WiFi. It's when I'm on WiFi that battery is ridiculously good. This is today at home all on WiFi. I had just over of 30 minutes SOT and my battery was still at 99%. That blew me away. Here's my stats at 80% now

Well this is pretty awesome life I used GPS to get to the zoo, used Google fit to track my activity in the zoo so it kept GPS on for 2 hours, and I also used GPS to get home. This also is about 1 GB of hotspot for 30 mins. Wifi was on only while sleeping.

Very happy considering how much I abused it with the GPS. This was also with 100+ pictures and a bunch of group texting.

I agree. The standby time has been nothing short of amazing for me.

Ahah i swear even my note 4 was never this good XD never did 5+ hours sot with over 24 hours on battery . Starting to wonder if i'll ever need the battery saver on it XD.

Unless i'm watching long youtube videos or something worthwhile yes i can barely see a difference anyway tbh(i did hear there's not a huge difference between both resolution battery wise). All in all i mostly use fhd since i can still see my screen outside and in these case i use the performance mode.

Alright so here's something craxy: after complaining for 8 days of not being able to get over 3h45 of sot, I just had an amazing battery day like my phone had heard me and had gotten offended !

15 hours of the charger, over 5 hours of sot and with those 9% left I could easily reach 6 hours !
I haven't done anything different than usual so I can't understand what happened ! But I hope it lasts.
Auto brightness on, 2 hours of Netflix at 80% brightness, sync on, location on while using the google maps, notification on, qhd screen on, quite a lot of outdoor use! I even used the phone to fly my mavic pro for 20 mins with 100%brigthness! And now I'm going to bed without having charged the phone while normally I must charge it before diner.

I'm so confused !!!

Went to Best Buy today and had one of the Samsung guys take a look at my phone. Said something definitely wasn't right. He looked and couldn't find anything that could be causing my pathetic battery life. Re-flashed my software, and if that doesn't work I'm swapping it out for another phone. Had barely over 3 hours of SOT and 25% battery left.

This is from my first whole day with the S8+. The phone is great did so far on the battery, and normally, I'd experience a lot of drain at work due to the concrete walls, but I switched to AT&T and have better service , so I'm doubly happy.

I think everyone needs to pay close attention to not just SOT, but other usage on the phone. For example, the nearly 10-hour SOT that was posted earlier here, look at the app usage percent. It is extremely low. Whatever is eating up the active time has to be highly optimized. Also, it is very likely that the brightness of the screen is low. The stuff people post here is grossly misleading. The S8+ has okay battery life for mixed heavy usage, and is nothing to write home about. Plenty of phones out there are better. S8 is probably atrocious.
