I have a s8 plus and date and time keeps coming on and off and killing battery life

It come on randomly and stays on 4-5 seconds and goes off but comes on every 20-60 seconds

The date and time remain on the front/lock screen on my S8 almost permanently. I think it does 'go to sleep' eventually. This, I thought, was normal.

While that presumably uses some battery life, the phone will go for about two days on a single charge.
