Why can't I send emails?

Problem Sending Emails

I have a Galaxy Tab 3 and a Gmail account. I can compose an email but when I press 'Send' it goes to the draft folder. When I attempt to send from there nothing happens. Can anyone offer any advice? I did just post the question as opposed to registering and was advised to clear the cache, but this did not work.

Check your data or WiFi connection to make sure you're connected to the internet.
