Also he stated that all motorola (android) phones would get the 2.1 treatment and that the droid would get a maintenance update. That does not mean that it will come in 2 updates. 2.0.1 is basicaly a stripped down version of 2.1 (both Eclair). The maintenace release might just be 2.1. He could have said it that way, to cover his *** in case they have not fully ported it by the 18th. My guess, is that it drops before the 22nd like the first dropped early. Start looking out for it on the 18th (Monday).

If they follow the usual pattern of delivery no. But with VZW things change and sometimes even the people the know, really don't. However the person that told me is pretty high up in the food chain. Hope she is right.

Hope the update that rep was talking about is not the old 2.0.1 update. Sometimes store reps are clueless. However some are actually pretty knowledgeable, only cause the frequent the forums.

Good point however I was wondering why the stores would get the update a week before us?

i told him i was looking to buy a droid,but i wanted to wait until the update dropped and he said come in on monday and they will be able to apply it for me. so i got all excited. never thought it may be the 2.0.1. damnit.

Yeah, doubt the store has it this early. As it could be leaked before it even starts rolling out.
