120hz or 60hz for S20+ battery life?

Yeah I feel like if I turned 120hz on and kept it on, for days I'd probably never go back, as it's not like 1080p is prohibitively blurry, but given it's noticeable for me personally, and the battery I'm likely gonna stick with 60hz until they (hopefully) allow both.

Supposedly they're gonna allow both with automatically switching between 120 and 60 . That's how it should have been.

Any updates to the people who were trying 120hz on their S20s?

I'm looking to get the regular S20 and have the S10. Losing roughly 25% of my battery life is my only worry when it comes to using the S20 on 120hz, so it would be nice to hear from people on here that it's less than that after trying it out at 120hz for a couple of weeks.

Thanks!

Im curious for people who's testing, in what power mode are you in? High performance, optimized, etc?

Also curious. I haven't done any testing, mostly because I have my phone connected to my work laptop all day (so I can use Samsung DeX when listening to podcasts, checking personal emails, and such). For what it's worth, if my phone is at 100% battery, then the Device Care app forecasts that I'll have 10 hours of battery life. That's with FHD and 120 Hz.

i handled S20+ and i changed it to 120hz, browse some web sites, played a quick game, and for me the experience was great, the change was noticeable. the only question for people would be the battery life. that will be the deciding factor

Battery life is great for me at 120hz. After using 90hz on previous devices it's hard going back to 60hz. The higher res is not as noticable difference to me vs the refresh rate.

Used 120 for the first couple weeks. Went back to 60hz 1080 and get great battery. 60hz is fine with me and my eyes don't see the difference in fhd or qhd either.

120 is so nice that I can't go back. I've been using it since I got the S20 Ultra and my battery is a beast. I'm never going back...lol. I just need the camera update and all is good

120 is nice, but not nice enough to give up the extra battery life.
Since the phone can get charged up from 0 to 100% in about 1 hour that should not be too concerning... But i can understand if you're not near a charger or on vacation i too would revert to 60hz to save battery...

I spent the money for performance, not battery life so I run my Ultra at 120 full time.

I'm on the move at work , would have to leave phone somewhere, it would probably get stolen , not willing to do that , like I said before carrying around and having to charge my power bank every night along with my phone, watch and Galaxy buds is an inconvenience I want to eliminate specially after paying $1,600 for this phone

I am glad you are at 14, but that is cutting it real close considering how many important things we use phones for.

There are power banks small enough to charge in your pocket even while you are walking. (Been there...) You don't have to leave the phone anywhere. Get one of those lipstick sized battery packs for instance. Or sometimes the flatter small ones are actually more convenient. I have all types. It is a minor annoyance but it works. Anker has a 6700 flat one.

As for charging it at home, stick it on a cable overnight. If that still bothers you, use a charger that has two outlets and charge your phone and the battery pack at the same time. They both juice up at the same time. No fuss.

With the amount of juice that you apparently need, you're going to have to bite the bullet and accept some compromise. It's another good example of why I would like to have removable batteries back, but it is what it is.

For me I like seeing the higher resolution on my phone, especially because I watch a lot of videos on YouTube that are beyond 1080p, and watching 4k videos that I have recorded on my phone. I am fine with 60hz until they combine the 120hz and WQHD together, plus I am saving battery life. I do love the smoothness 120hz adds to the higher refresh rate, but not as much as the higher resolution this beautiful screen provides. I'll never settle for 1080p again since Samsung upped the resolution on all their devices. That's just me.

so now the debate is resolutions vs refresh rate. are there any videos on comparing the different resolutions on the S20 or is this something better seen in person with phone in hand

Every morning it's a debate for me
Sometimes high refresh rate and sometimes higher resolution. When watching 2k videos or 4k videos taken on the phone, or while scrolling instagram the higher res is a more pleasant experience for me. When im browsing websites or reading forums, like here, Reddit , tapatalk, etc i use the 120hz since there's lots of scrolling... But if i had to choose one or the other i think i would go with the high res option. This big screen is way too gorgeous to use it on 1080 mode only...
