Ok they all appear to be there now if I do a hard reset they sync google they will all be back in my phone? Anything else I should know before I reset?

make sure all your other data is backed up onto your SD, then I copied my SD onto my hard drive.

One thing that has been recommended if to format your SD after the hard reset. after you format, then just copy your files back onto your SD. I read that after I had already reset and back in business. I did not format.

do you have appbrain on your phone? if not I would get it. I had some apps not show up in my market, but they all appeared in appbrain.

yup once you know your contacts are all in your gmail account on the website, now every and any time you log into your evo, or flash a new ROM, or even factory reset, your contacts will all re-appear in your phone contacts forever. its a beautiful thing

Brightness controls broken in eReaders (Kindle, Aldiko, Nook, etc)

The brightness controls in all of the eReaders I've tried (Kindle, Aldiko, Nook) no longer work. I've contacted support for both Kindle and Aldiko and they don't have any ideas.

After troubleshooting, I've determined that it's only broken when automatic brightness is enabled on the phone. Disable the automatic brightness, and the eReader brightness controls start working again.

The 2ndary sync problem is now gone....I followed the workaround and waited a day and a bit and voila, it's working again. YAY.

I've updated my post earlier in the thread regarding the Calendar Bug (where editing an existing event deletes the Description field by overwriting it with the Where field).

In brief:

- Bug exists on all Evos with official Froyo update. Data disappears on device, cloud, and all synced devices if edited event is saved without re-entering Description.
- Hard Reset doesn't fix
- Some 3rd party calendar apps (Jorte, iRT) will edit properly
- Sprint CS doesn't care
- HTC CS does

I will update again when I hear back from HTC.

This should be REQUIRED READING for all EVO users. First, I am amazed by the speed with which the upgrade now runs my brand new [three weeks old] EVO. Second, I solved the few issues that I noted by rebooting and reinstalling my purchased applications. Now it runs all elements faster than a speeding bullet. Thank you so much for your guidance.

Discussed elsewhere. There doesn't seem to be a reason, though the thought just crossed my mind, if the phone knows moonrise and moonset times it may not change until those times. I'll have to pay attention for the next few weeks.

Coming here from a Palm device I find it a bit disorienting as it seems that the terms: reset, reboot, soft reset, hard reset, factory reset all seem to be used interchangebly. The only two things I know is turning the phone power off/on which would be a "soft reset" in Palm terms and in Settings>SD card is the "Factory reset" which, I think, would be like a hard reset on a Palm except a hard reset on a Palm would leave the phone registered to you and, again in a Palm, a Factory reset would erase your phone number and everything.

interesting. . mine will do it at times after I typed a long message. even though its within the requirements.
Only saw it for one contact so far though. Im gonna keep and eye on it to see if I can narrow down the problem and find a root cause to it.

I was just about to try a hard reset on my EVO and wanted to ask the same thing. I am getting a ton of crashes with the flash player. It will start to play the video then I get Sorry, this video can not be played. There was a problem while playing.
It is happening alot now. Since I updated to 2.2. I am thinking the hard reset will help I hope.

I had all my music on my SD card in my previous phone (Instinct)... just copied all the music from that card to card in EVO (by docking phone to computer).. before the update, everything was working fine in the music player, now the songs play fine just the above issues.
I have already deleted all music from EVO and re-copied it from the other card, no fix.

FYI... a hard reset did not fix this
