2.2 update failing. Anyone else?

When i first got my Fascinate in Janurary all was fine with updating OTA.
Now every time i try to do a update i get

Source: Verizon Wireless
Status: Server Unavailable
Code: 500

I have wifi off.. i have reset, restarted, pulled battery and everything that i can think of.

Even used odin to go back to DIO1 and still can't get an update to go thru

Any help would be appreciated..
Also are they an odin version of the official froyo that just come out recently? If so i will just go that route.

Thanks

As far as I knew, between the EA28 update in late January/ early February and this ED01 update, there have been no OTA updates. That would be why you get the server unavailable. No update available, update server not active so reading as unavailable.

2.2 froyo fascinate help!

I downloaded the OTA 2.2 froyo update and when i tried to install it gave me this error: IP Previous Download failed. What should i do to fix this problem and what was the previous download before 2.2 came out?

Did you do the EA28 OTA update as well? Are you rooted? Fully stock? Anything custom that didnt come from the Market App?

EDIT: quoted due to thread merger. Silly mods doing there jobs and whatnot!! :-P

Yeah but i couldnt get the EA28 or the ED01 update to come thru.
It's weird.. I think my phone is screwed up somehow from getting updates

when i get off work im going to try DroidXCon's suggestion out.

Best case scenario is that that will work out for you. Worst case is that there is some sort of defect with your phone. If the problem seems to become unresolvable I would lean towards the phone being defective in some way, which in my opinion you should definitely talk to verizon and explain that you are getting that error time after time until they send you a new fascinate. I personally would rather start with a fresh phone because your chances of having that problem with a new phone will be much less likely. But that's what we are here for, to help in whatever way we can!

I'm also getting the server unavailable message when trying to check for the update. I thought that it might be that Verizon's servers were overloaded with people trying to update their phones but then I tried on my girlfriends phone and it updated no problem. I'm completely stock and have never rooted or used a different launcher. I've also never had a problem updating until now. Will Verizon replace my phone if the issue can't be resolved, like they did with others, even though I bought mine through Best Buy? Is there a solution to fixing this issue? I would really hate to have to replace my phone

Followed the directions here to flash back to dl01. Updated to EA28 then I got a notification after that to install 2.2. Everything is working great now.

This is really frustrating that we have waited this long for the Froyo update and then we can't even get our phones to update. Samsung/Verizon needs to provide a better solution to this. The rep I spoke with at Verizon even said there was a chance the refurb phone would not update. I paid good money for a new phone not a refurbished one! I have not had good luck with refurbished phones from Verizon. Every time I send one back I end of fighting with Verizon to take the charge off my bill and I have always sent the phone back in within the 10 days allowed.

2.2

Pulled down the update, phone has rebooted, life is good!
Except, how do I get the audio output on the docking station to work? Wasn't this supposed to work with Froyo?

Still no 2.2 OTA update showing up

I live in NE Ohio and my fascinate shows no update when I manually check via SETTINGS - ABOUT PHONE - SYSTEM UPDATES = CHECK NOW.
My phone is fully stock. Are the updates not made available to all users yet? Do I have to visit my local Verizon store for the update?

Has anyone else not yet had access to the OTA update?

UPDATE:
I just returned from the Verizon (company) store. They attempted the OTA update with no success. Then they called their support people and had my ESDN ( I think that is what they were checking) checked against the list of Fascinates that they know will not take the update, mine was not on the list. They did say that there were thousands of Fascinates that were on the list. The employee that was working on my phone did the manual check for the update on his personal Fascinate and it immediately gave him the option to update.

Their suggestion was to wait a week to see if the update would be rolled out to my phone and then write up a support ticket for a replacement phone. They had no other Fascinate owners complaining about not getting access to the update. They did not have a copy of the update in their computer to manually install the update.

I have had quite a few incoming calls over the last few weeks that I could not answer because the phone would not unlock via the puzzle piece. The phone would not respond to any buttons except powering down. Since I had that problem along with no update being offered OTA, they wrote up a support ticket now and are replacing my phone.

OTA froyo not found - when and where did you get yours?

When I do a System updates-> Check New it just returns with no indication of an update being available. When I do a status it says No update status info available.

I have wifi off on a stock 2.1 Fascinate. I am in Columbus OH.

Anyone updated in Central Ohio - if so what part?

Anyone else have this issue?

I called Verizon and the drone said that it can take weeks. Please.

The OTA for the updated 2.1 worked fine for me a few months ago.

Yeah, the Verizon rep is right. I know a couple people who didn't get that maintenance update that fixed the E911 Lock Screen issue almost a month after it was released. You'd think something like that would have been pushed with a bit more priority.

Got it to work

I after I rooted, I installed Uninstaller Root Pro. I moved the bloat apps to the sd card. My phone would not update. It would stop in the first quarter of the install and give the error "UPDATE FAILED or INCOMPLETE.reason: IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED" I restored all of the apps from the sd card, using Unistaller Root Pro. One or more of these caused the problem.

I'm guessing Bing was the culprit, but restored all just in case.

Attempted update and worked fine. I'll reroot next.

OTA fix not working

They have a fix on the Android forums for the OTA error message, [FIXED!] How to get Froyo if your OTA is failing! - Page 3 - Android Forums, a lot of people are having success using this fix, but for some reason when i reflashed(to DI01) my phone and attempt to OTA download the EA28 so i could do the Froyo update, i get stuck on "updating modem" on the unpacking screen from my phone. Does anybody knows what can i do, i'm tired been up all night and morning trying to figure this stuff out, and im really getting tired of this!

Pay close attention to what the above poster has stated. My wife's Fascinate updates with no issues but she wasn't rooted. Not only was I rooted but I chose to get rid of the above apps and that was a bad idea. I could not get the 911 update or the Froyo update. I had to unroot, restore my phone back to the original status via Odin and then I had no trouble updating.

Moral of the story: If you try to get rid of the bloatware, you will have issues updating!

i wouls suggest using DroidX's post to go back to stock, and pay attention to the.. then things should work,,if not droidx's then use Adrynalan's post to use clockwork mow back so far then odin the original stock files..

ya have to read closely and dont jump the gun every step has to be followed to the letter.. if something messes up use droidx's or Adrynal CWM's located at his postings..

myself i am staying with the SC 292v. untill i see that all uppdaters are getting update smoother than now..

and whats the gain to update to official froyo? i feel Verizon has their fingers in the ROM.. report back to mamo on what yer doing .. just my thought .but the above info will get you where you need to be for the official update...
