4G info for those in Tampa,FL

Crap I keep forgetting stuff and this might be very important. I installed the leaked Froyo that came out on Friday. I actually installed it on Friday night. The other thing is it seems to be a work in process, places I passed on Saturday that didnt have it, had it Sunday afternoon when I went back to that same area..

Oh and yes it seems like I only got about 4 hours out of the battery with the 4G on. To be more specific I was at the Seminole Mall at the Super Buffet..if you know that area

Yep - Definitely familiar w/ Seminole Mall :D I'll have to check out the 4G when we hit Publix this weekend.

Only 4 hours tho?? Wow! Ouch!! Hopefully that's just something that was wrong in the leaked build (or something).

I don't think the google maps link you sent is working correctly. All I got was a maps.google.com page with the search string "4G coverage pinellas" loaded. So it was just showing things like the Sprint stores and other locations. Doesn't look like something that someone mapped out.

I'm getting a signal in Palm Harbor 34683, 4 down 1 up. When I go outside, I get an "excellent" signal. Drops it and reconnects, I updated to the leaked Froyo which is said to have 4G connection issues.

4G in Tampa too between state fairgrounds and dale mabry, along I4 and I275. Pretty strong signal but XiiaLive doesn't like it when it drops... nothing in New Tampa where I live though, so not sure how long its been up. Using Sensorly app from market to log it all. Should be up in 24 hrs (takes a while to post).

Has anyone in and around Tampa noticed problems with 3G in the last couple of days? Particularly those who upgraded to Froyo on the Evo? 3G speeds are around 300k since the update, when they used to be 1.5 - 2 mbps. May just be a tower down, but thought I'd check.

I decided to test it today at work, and I've been getting strong 4G signal all day since trying. I work in St. Pete, 33709, not far from pinellas park.

Frustrating....got back to my home in Largo, only 15 minutes from work, and the signal is gone. Hopefully this isn't a sign that Largo will be limited to 3G....

i don't think so, from what i heard tampa 4g signal will be as far north as south pasco and as far south as sarasota.

4g signal reported between Anderson and Linebaugh to anderson and sligh, my brother in-laws phone says 4g but for some reason mine is not finding it.... bizarre.

Mine is strictly hit or miss is downtown Tampa. It never seems to stay on consistently. I hope it's not too far away from going up live. I was in Seattle last week and enjoyed the 4G experience. Let's hope it gets here soon.

yeah same here i see signals but they connect for maybe like 5 minutes then its searching again. pretty lame

Yeah, I checked the speed on I4 around Ybor and am getting 387k down and 0 up. Had to turn off 4G it was so bad. Hopefully it'll improve, but I think for now until Sprint or Clear make it official, I'm not going to bother wasting battery trying. FYI, I got lots of notifications all over Tampa telling me 4G was available but wouldn't connect.

I work at the corner of 19 and Park in Pinellas Park and I have 3 out of 3 of the bars filled for 4G. This is the first time I have had it and it runs very fast. I am about to see how it compares on an iPad using Wifi.

Appears the Sensory app in the Market is finally working correctly. Is showing a good range of FL 4G coverage, including Orlando and now Miami & Daytona / New Smyrna Beach. Tampa map far better too.

I was getting pretty fair 4G coverage yesterday in St. Pete by the dog track on Gandy Blvd. It was showing one to two bars.

Park side? Haha I live in the area too but I have yet to get a 4g signal. I'm hoping soon though.

Well I've been all over the area over the last few days - Tampa and St Pete, including places I've found 4G before - and haven't found any 4G signal. I have noticed 3G has sped up a lot though - was getting 500k day and 700k night, but for the last few days, its back up to 1000/1800, which is nice..
