7 days and this EVO LTE is going back!

have only been annoyed by the multi-tasking issue a few times.

I may go stock android once a stable rom is available though. As long as battery life is still solid.

It isn't just gaming though. Try to export a file in dropbox to your phone. Unless you leave dropbox in the foreground the export automatically stops.

This had been a issue with Dropbox since my nexus s. And then on my epic touch. And still on my lte evo. Dropbox is a bad example for the multitasking test ;)
Not saying there isn't a problem as I've had this thread in tapatalk reload to page one on me a few times in the last hour while reading and doing other things :p

To everyone complaining about multitasking
if yall got what you wanted then yall would then be complaining about the battery life.
At the end of the day, this is still a "cell phone". if you want to multitask that bad then buy a tablet

Sorry, but having multitasking will not really affect battery life. Programs that don't NEED to be doing anything won't be doing anything.

I have a tablet (XOOM). But I have also had every other EVO, and I want proper multitasking on ALL OF THEM. And they ALL had it, up to this EVO LTE.

Just because you don't care that it doesn't work properly doesn't mean you should tease those who do care.

I'm not talking randomly stops at some point during the transfer and you might have to try a few times. It stops the moment you go do something else, no matter what. My EVO 3d could do it, and the only thing that POS should be better than a flagship device is the 3d.

It actually happened to me earlier. I was replying to a post here earlier today. I typed a message out the was only a paragraph, and then received a call.

After being on the phone for ten minutes, I came back to my message to finish typing, and bang... The page went totally white and reloaded. I did not even touch anything and lost everything that I typed.

I hit the back button to see if it was still there and it could not be found.

This might be minor to some, but to me, I was very angry... This is faulty software. My original evo never did this at all.

Interesting...........Does anyone know if this lack of true multi tasking affects the music player or Google's Play Music app?
A couple of times I have tried to listen to music so I open the Play Music app, then I switch to some other apps and the music will just stop playing. It is very frustrating, at first I thought it was a reception issue, but I have tried it a couple of times with very good signal (full bars) and it still happens.

I'm sorry to hear all the woe's over the new LTEvo. I purchased mind a little over a week ago, and I haven't looked back since. I've yet to experience any sense reboot. I've opened my HD Browser to whatever website, hit the home key, and gone back to the same website from recent apps. I've played Fruit Ninja hit pause button, then home key did what I had to do, and resumed right from where I left it in the pause state. I've played Solitaire as well and have gone back to exactly where I left it from the recent apps. I dare say perhaps it's just the phone itself, or perhaps you may have loaded some crap-ware.

The LTEvo is absolutely an amazing phone and has lived up to all my expectations and then some. The battery life is phenomenal to say the least, and this is after trying to kill it all day long. I've read many of the negative posts hear, and I'm just amazed. I only know of one other that has the LTEvo, so far she has had nothing but positive things to say, and hasn't experience any of the negative issues.

The LTEvo will be my first full 2yr keeper!

EDIT: I think the problem with some users lies in using the native apps, as opposed to using third party that may or may not be optimized for ICS. I tried multitasking a video using Mobo Player, the video would not resume from the pause point. However if I used the native app I could pause any video hit the home key do other things, and resume from where I left off.

I'm able to use the default player, open email, web, solitaire, etc and the music keeps playing in the background.

The facebook sync works, just turn it on. I have had my phone for a week now, and I haven't seen sense reboot once. The multitasking is absolute garbage. It's broken, they should admit it. I tried to activate the Bank of America app, and it would send me the verification code as a text. I would switch to the text to get the code, then back to the app, which would restart and aske me if it wanted me to send the code all over again. Rediculous. Other than that, this is by far the best phone I've ever held, bar none, it's not even close.

You can bet that seeing as its a major issue to so many, the dev's will be on a fix soon.

Thats the great thing about a great phone...it gets ton's of support

This!! WebOS taught the industry what multitasking was supposed to be.Yes,I'm completely aware that Windows Mobile also multitasked. WebOS was very slick though. Too bad the hardware was not up to par. It did however, spoil us with this feature.

I am not going to lie ... If Palm/HP would have come out with a 2nd Generation Candy Bar form factor, I would not have ditched my Palm Pre in 2010 for the Evo 4G ... I can assure you that WebOS would be still around AND THRIVING if they would have followed suit with the current phone designs .

Are you kidding me ... Even if what you say is true ... Your saying that the 5+ native apps will work right with "mult-tasking" , but the other 500,000+ apps will not work and thats cool with you ... That's Ridiculous ! It's either BROKE or ... No ... It's BROKE ... Period!

I would like to see a good list of 10 - 20 apps that are ICS optimized to test the theory of whether it's ICS or HTC that reloads/refreshes the apps once you return to them.

I agree. I probably would have still jumped on the Evo Boat, but even then, there were many people calling for a phone with Evo Hardware but running WebOS. If they had gotten that out in time, they would still be around. Palm's problem was that not only was the Pre's hardware a massive failure of epic proportions, they were way too slow as a company. Their exclusivity contract with Sprint was too long, and by the time the Pre Plus made it to Verizon, the Droids were already kicking major butt. The Pre Should have been on Verizon 3 months after launch on Sprint. Also, they were slow getting out the second generation model. It took them two years to release a phone that was basically sub par when compared to the competition. They were simply too slow for the fast paced mobile market.

Do you think HTC will do something about this or since they stated it isn't broke and stand behind that statement.

Well they have until Saturday morning to at least make an announcement that a fix is on the way soon, or I will no choice but to take this awesome piece of hardware back for a refund and try to hold on to the cash for 5 days when the GS3 comes out.
Without reliable software, great hardware is nothing more than a paper weight.

Since I am past the 14 day mark I have to hope that A) there is no delays with the Galaxy and B) hope Best Buy actually has some in stock within the first 3 days of release.

I think most likely I will be waiting for CM9 on the 4GLTE

10 years ago Companies could get away with this crap ... The WEB community is WELL INFORMED these days ... Because of Android Central and other well known forums we have damn near instant info so companies can't lie ( well they can but we know the truth ) I don't mind a company making a bad decision, but fess up to it HTC (multi-task) and Google ( G Wallet) ... OUR communities as a whole are just as smart as you ... Where do you think you get your Devs from ... Acknowledge there is a problem ... Give a a fix date ... And follow through .
