I believe the SGS3 operates the internal partition in the same way, that's how stock ICS does it on a Nexus device too... Wifi dropping while asleep happens largely at night for you doesnt it? Its a power saving mode HTC put in, there's a fix available for root users, rather crappy feature to have with no user control (specially when Wifi can save power!).

Yes, it is very crappy that HTC would do that, when there is a setting addressing this and they simply ignore it and do whatever they want. I suspect it is part of the reason for such incredible battery life- just break a core functionality.

a lot of these problems sound more like user ignorance than device shortcomings. had my EVO since May 24 and haven't had any problems except it keeps asking me to set my local time every 4 or 5 days.

Not that I owe you credentials but...

My first HTC was the Touch Pro, I have also had the Touch Pro 2, Hero (very short period of time), Evo 4g, Evo Shift (wife), Evo 3D, Evo 4G LTE (my wife and I)

On Android I have owned or used extensively: Touch Pro 2, Hero, Evo 4g, Shift, 4GLTE, Touchpad, Nook Color, GTab.

The Touch Pro 2 Andorid was pretty bad when I used it. The Hero would get bogged down. But every other device on that list (Even the Touch Pro on the original WM) multitasked better than this phone. There is little excuse for a phone with this much horse power to be gimped to work worse than phones from 3+ years ago.

Now every phone has initial issues. But the LTE has issues that were intentionally implemented (multitasking) and unintentional like Wifi, and 3g connectivity. The problem for HTC with this release is a rival company's phone with many of the same specs but without a major function crippled comes out during a return period for their flagship phone.

Okay let's cut the BS yes multitask reloads but its not broken, downloads cancel, that's BS the only time I've had downloads cancel is when I cancel them or my phones shuts off or when I move from wifi to 3g. I can start a text message change to tappatalk, then change to the Web download a mod go to a phone call then playstore download a app and finish my text, finish my tappatalk reply then reboot my phone flash the mod and play the game I got from market. So you want a g3 or just don't like htc just say so stop making up excuses and making people who love the evo start doubting themselves

But YOUR experience isn't typical of ALL experiences. The issue is now well documented and even admitted by the company that made the phone. So this is a thread for people that are having the issue. Why did you come in here again?

It's sad that some are trying to say people don't know how to use the phone and I don't believe this is the case....I've gone from a pre to evo 4g and 3d to this and each and every device I rooted or modded whatever you wanna say....I truly know when something isn't working right....the multi tasking is either to aggressive or just plain F'ed up....I don't care what no one says...and your not gonna convince me to believe that the wifi simultaneously connected with Bluetooth should be connecting and reconnecting all the time...it's not the Bluetooth as I've tried 10 different units...as goes for wifi..multiple routers etc... The way this phone acts I've been using my of evo...and only problem I've had is the launcher reloading due to the small amount of ram the evo had. And for all those yapping about just root and put a custom rom...f that...I wanna feel out the sense 4 as is...not always jumping back and forth to roms...plus the whole nfc chip problem regarding flashing roms...we need to HTC to get off there asses and fix this

Well, I am having that problem with my phone. So I entered this thread to discuss the problem with others here who agree that it is a big enough issue for them to possibly return the phone.

If I didn't have the issue, I would have opened this thread, realized I didn't have the same issue and gone about my business elsewhere. You specifically came into a thread of people who are having problems and called them out for discussing it.

Man.. I tried running Airdroid today to copy files over. Files were copying, (just 100MB file), and it seemed fine.. it was chugging along at about 20% when I left to go shower, get breakfast made, etc. Came back about 20 minutes later and it was stuck on 50%.

This NEVER happened on my 3D once. I had to close the program and open it again, connecting to it again, to get it to work once more. This is not the way the phone should work.

For multitasking comparison, I was using my 3D last night and I couldn't get it to redraw a browser window, play store, or tapatalk forum once. Not once. And this is NOT an ICS thing, because I'm running ICS with Sense 3.6 on it. This is just a completely busted Sense 4.

And I think I'm getting to the point of real concern that this thing just doesn't work properly one bit. I can tolerate browser pages refreshing, as dumb as it is, but when downloads cut off once the screen is off or uploads break, this is NOT acceptable.

Ok, now this is a bigger deal for me. It looks like pda net is not available for download anymore. It says my carrier does not allow its installation.

You won't find it in the Play Store. Do a Google search for the app and download the .apk from the website.

I've had phone since pre-order through sprint. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this phone.

Look s3 may be cool. Idk. My friend has never gotten a gps signal on his gs2. I think all android phone are superior in their own respect. However I clearly don't agree with this original post.
Phone is great. And full root is like 2 clicks away. Development and implementation of new android jelly bean or whatever Will be on Evo LTE b4 s3. Or a bunch of other phones. I know... Because. I've owned a og Evo4g for past 2yrs.
My new Evo LTE is simply amazing. Take the time to learn to use it. Heck I use Nova launcher..... Cause I like cm7. Waiting for cm9.

Look, I know that you really like your phone. If you read my previous posts, you'd know I'm not a troll and I really wanted to like this phone too. In many ways, I do. It's hands down, the most powerful and sexy piece of hardware I've ever owned. But HTC crippled this phone in ways that are unacceptable. I'm aware that every device has problems when they are first released, but they aren't usually deal breakers. If the gs3 wasn't right around the corner, I'd just have to duck it up, but we actually have a choice now, which is great!

As with any market, you have to work to improve your product on the face of competition in order to survive. That's what I'm asking HTC to do.

I honestly don't see what you are complaining about. Yes sense rests but mine happens once a week. I received mine in the pre-order shipment, havent rooted it and it runs perfectly well. I did an update on google wallet and it runs smooth and I LOVE IT! The phone does multitask because I can switch between apps smoothly and have no errors. Also, speaking of multitasking, have you noticed you can talk and surf the internet at the same time on EVO LTE? Well you can and NO OTHER Sprint phone allows this without connecting to WiFi or WiMAX (4G). I will gladly keep my EVO and ignore the GS III launch. I had the EVO and EVO 3D, switched to the GS II and now that I am back to HTC I never want to leave. HTC runs smooth and has a clean look.

So what does the European SGS3 only having 1GB say? You ask me they did it for marketing as much as anything, the S4 is at least on par with the quad Exynos and Tegra 3 SoCs but to many an uninformed mind less cores is still a big negative (nevermind that A15 cores on S4 are much faster clock for clock than A9 cores)... So they add more RAM and they have another highlight spec to brag about.

I'm not saying it won't help, because it sureky will... Just that it wasn't done wholly with the user experience in mind, so much as with selling more phones in mind. Samsung manufactures flash memory in house after all, the cost is fairly trivial.

I believe that the A9 based Exynos chip have a gpu with dedicated video memory, unlike the A15 based S4's. This made the extra Ram in the international GS3 unnecessary since they use the Exynos.

I'm thinking E4GLTE + CM9 + Nova/Apex is going to be a friggin unstoppable combination that a stock GS3 is never going to be able to touch.

I Agree 100%. I love the build quality of this phone. It is so solid and I just don't see that quality from Samsung. I'm going to flash a ROM anyway and the internals are nearly identical so I'm sticking with the EVO. Very happy so far.

Well I wasn't lucky enough to get mine on preorder. I got mine on Launch day and haven't been able to use Google Wallet. I called them and the rep acknowledged that there was a problem but did not know when there would be a fix.

And yes, I have noticed that I can call and surf the Web simultaneously. That's one of the AWESOME things I like about this phone. But the way it handles multitasking is pathetic.

or is it because i called BS on the people saying A. i cant finish a download if i move on to another application or B. saying i cant start writing a text go to another app then go back and finish writing my text. because these problems are in fact in the oneX but the Evolte doesnt have the same agressive multitasking as the oneX.

yea the multitasking is still agressive but nothing like the oneX can the multitasking be better yes it can but to say you have to say in the internet window to finish a download because if you change screen's itll cancel or you have to finish the text because if you change screens it'll erase is not true it takes alot more then changing to 1 other app. and that is what im calling out.

Ok things are getting overheated here for no reason. I don't think people who come here and say their phone is running fine are trolling they are stating that they are not having the same problems as some are. Now I've read some of the comments and not all but some have leaned towards trying to convince others that this phone is bad and suggest sending it back to make a point. Hey if there are certain things that you don't like about the phone then take it back and go to the forum for your new phone just don't try and convince others to join you. Let everyone make up their own mind. The great thing about android is we all have options if this phone doesn't work for you then hey take it back. But both sides need to chill out if your happy with your phone like I am then stay happy and if your not then take yours back and pick something that does work for you.
