About to take the Froyo plunge...

Hey sibebabe, I was totally having the random phone reboot issue before flashing sc 2.9.2. I flashed the EC10SC292x_DXC.tar file through odin a few days ago (after some serious phone drama *my-fault-drama to be sure*) and my phone is super smooth and zippy now and no reboots.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I decided to root my Fascinate today after reading this thread. I then flashed SC 2.9.2 using CWM. I can not believe what a difference this has made, everything runs so much faster and smoother. For the first couple hours after I flashed I just kept thinking to myself "WOW, so this is how my phone is supposed to work". Only problem I am having now is putting it down. I am now on the hunt form themes and other goodies I was being denied before. I already know I will never accept another VZW software version or update. Anyone still thinking anout rooting should go do it now. It is very easy and makes the Fascinate truly fascinating. A big Thank You to all the devs and all the others I see helping folks here.

I just did the one-click root and downloaded titanium backup. I kind of no longer want to put froyo on my phone etc. Do I need to unroot it or can I just leave it as is even though it has been one-click rooted. Thanks!
Edit: I used post 6 here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...eturn-stock-remove-system-apps-other-how.html and once I get through typing 'cd C:/FascinateRoot_v02' and that works. However, when I do the next command, 'adb shell' I get a message saying "adb is not an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"
So how exactly do I get it to unroot? Thanks.

Seems to have worked since my titanium backup no longer has superuser rights. That means I am unrooted correct?

I would try opening Titanium backup. If it tells you it can't gain root access than you are no longer rooted. Just my suggestion but I have not been doing this long. There is also a free app in the market called Root Checker. You could grab that to make sure.

I have rooted and upgrated my phone to froyo (big thanks to everyone who took their time to post step-by-step instructions on how to upgrade to 2.2).
the main reason why I decided to upgrade was to be able to use the audio jack on desktop cradle and car mount. To my surprise I'm still not getting any audio out of the two. Is there something I'm missing, some setting changes?

Only thing I know is there is an option to adjust the dock volume in settings. I do not have a dock to try so I am afraid that is all the help I can offer.

Thank you so much everyone. You are android angels. I've been observing this thread for a while and today I had a calling, finally took the plunge. It was seamless! If I can do it, you can do it too. (This is coming from a person who didn't even know how to transfer files from computer to phone's SD card correctly)
Now my silly question is, how do I restore my original wallpaper, apps, etc.? I assume that's what the Titanium Backup is for, but which button should I press in the batch? So many buttons in there... and will it restore all the bloatwares as well? because I think I backed up EVERYTHING...

So did you root first, then do a titanium backup, then upgrade to Froyo? If so in titanium backup, choose the restore option of missing apps + data, not all apps, and definitely not any system data. Do you have the free titanium backup or did you pay for the premium?

free version is going to ask you if you want to restore at every app. Paid version installs all the apps in your backup one right after the other. If one of the bloatware comes up, just say no to the restore. After this you may want to consider investing the money in the paid version. Will save you a ton of time next time you have to restore your apps with TiBu
I just installed Froyo as well. I didn't know about the batch thing, so I went through and backed up every app/data in the titanium backup menu one by one. I then restored each one by one. I don't know if I restored any previous system data, is there a way I can tell? As far as I can see Froyo is running fine on my fascinate as of right now, however I don't want something to go wrong in the near future. What would restoring previous system data do to my phone/software? Thanks!

You would most likely end up with a bunch of force closes. If you just restored the apps one by one you didn't restore any system data, so no worries
Ok thanks for the quick reply. If I do start to get force closes within the next couple of days, would I just reinstall froyo on my fascinate to alleviate the problem? Would I do it the same exact way using Odin as I initially did? Thanks again.

If for some strange reason you did get force closes, you should be able to fix the problem in clockworkmod recovery (cwm.) Have you installed and used it yet, or did you use one of DroidXcon's ODIN packages to get to Froyo? If you are familiar with cwm, just download the latest one HERE, and flash it through ODIN.
Then follow the instructions in DroidXcon's thread HERE on how to wipe cache partition and dalvik cache. If that doesn't work, follow the instructions in DroidXcon's thread on fixing permissions.
I didn't use CWM, I used one of Droidxcon's froyo packages through Odin. I used the basic froyo with bloatware, no superclean or anything.

OK, well you are going to need that clockworkmod recovery at some point anyway, so at some point here follow the directions in DroidXcon's clockwork thread to download the cwm-fix file I gave you. Like I said though you should be fine as system data is restored separate from apps in TiBu.
