Adaway / Adfree suddenly not working?

hi guys, i'm using the i9505 version, stock rom + rooted.

I was initially using adfree and it worked well.. but all of a sudden my ads just came back. i thought it was an adfree problem, so i tried using adaway.

in the end, both gave the same results - no ads were blocked

any idea what went wrong?
