Adjustments, tips and tricks to maximize Battery Life on Samsung Galaxy S6/edge

This post is great!
Quick question: what do I lose when I clear my cache? I've been using this phone for a few days now and don't want to lose any settings, files or apps, etc. Is any of that affected in any major way? If I know what to expect, it's an easy fix.

Also, is it the same if I go to settings > storage > cache > clear cache?

Thanks!

They are talking about turning off the device. Hold volume up, power and home button. Toggling to clear the cache partition and then toggling reboot. I have only done it once to my wife's GS4. My device has been stable with no issues even after the AT&T OTA update. Clearing cached data the way you described isn't bad to periodically

Nothing. Clearing the cache just got rid of temp files and others, from lack of better words, garbage.

When you clear the cache in settings you are clearing the apps cache, you should do that at least once a week or so. Doing a Wipe cache partition from the recovery menu, it's the equivalent but for the OS and System framework "garbage".

Is it me or is auto brightness a little dull indoors?
Use velis autobrightness from play store. It directly replaces your auto brightness widget in the pull down menu. I was completely amazed how good it works and you can adjust how ever you want for any light situation. I installed it and have never touched my brightness setting since. It even goes to full max when in direct sunlight.
Give it a try .
And yes the auto brightness is to dull indoors for me also with the stock autobrightness.

Holding those buttons doesn't do anything for me. Is there any way to do that cache clear through settings?

And just to make sure I understand, the cache clearing via holding volume up, power and home is different from app cache clearing?

Edit: Whoops, just read the OP and realized you must do this while the phone is OFF!

App cache clearing is settings /storage. Do it once every couple of weeks.

Use volume rocker to select clear cache. Power to accept. Toggle to reboot. This clears OS "garbage"

Well I don't know what's happening then as I'm getting the best SoT I've had in a long time, very similar to what I had with the Xperia Z3, I'm averaging almost 8.25 SoT today, and that with over 3 hours of Bluetooth and Android Wear, other weekends with similar usage I've had 6.5 hours at most but today it seems that it doesn't want to die, it keeps going and going with about 3 or 4 reboots because of some changes I've been doing. Only thing I've done was too remove my previous weather widgets and replace it with Xwidgets and the equivalent Samsung Original widget that I've posted in other threads.

Take a look.

Any new tips and tricks anyone has come across? I've ran down all the usual but always love seeing anything new if anyone came up with anything.

Thanks all!

Did you check out the video erasat posted above?

Can someone tell me where in settings I can find hot word detection?

Not sure what you mean. If you are referring to auto complete and a great keyboard, get the SwiftKey app in the Play Store.

I'm talking about this

"1-) Turn Off Hot Word Detection Always Listening in Google Search. Having this on all the time will undeniably use battery that you are really wasting if you don't need it."

Also trying to figure out how to stop my phone permanently looking out for me saying "hello google" as well

The Hot Word detection from any screen was removed in a recent update, it will only work now when you are in the app itself. It has been said that it will be back in next schedule firmware update (5.1.1), when it re-appears it is located on Google App, settings-voice-Ok Google detection.
