After the Moto X (2014) reveal, are you excited?

Re: After the reveal, are you excited?

But the Maxx phones are always bulky and heavy.

My MAXX may not be a featherweight compared to some other phones, but I wouldn't call it bulky or heavy. Besides, that's the trade-off - you want a 2-day battery, you get the weight of a 2-day battery.

I just took a moment to look up the weights:
Droid (Ultra) MAXX: 5.89 oz
Galaxy S5: 5.11oz
Moto X (2013): 4.59 oz
Moto X (2014): 5.08 oz

I personally don't mind carrying an extra ounce of weight to not have to think about my battery, pretty much ever.

I will be keeping an eye on it. Overall I have been happy with my original Moto X.
My original Verizon Moto X is a 16 gb pre moto maker model.
I admit at first I was worried about the 16 gb storage but I have adapted and space has not been a issue for me.Also the camera worked fine for me on my original MX and the battery life has been pretty good.

- "only" FHD sorry but for a 5 inch phone coming out at this time QHD should be expected

Do you carry around a magnifying glass so you can see the pixels? At these kinds of PPI, the more important question is the quality of the display (brightness, viewability in sunlight, accuracy of colors, backlight bleed), not the resolution. These displays have reached the point where increasing resolution is just a pissing contest.

No I don't but more and more phones are coming out with it, so it helps in terms of usp
I agree with the rest of your post just like a great camera is so much more than just mega pixels

Exactly, the quality of the optics trumps the megapixels once you reach a certain threshold, which for most purposes is in the 5-10mp range. So I guess I'm curious why you think they should've done a higher than 1080p screen if you understand it doesn't actually gain any perceivable function? Granted, a higher res screen could boost buzz, but it would also boost cost, and likely hurt battery life. I personally feel they made the right call.

The finger bump is horrible and makes it look like an iPhone in a case at all times. The battery makes it a no go. If I use the current moto x as a phone/texting device...it's fine on a day, but if I do anything else....pictures/games/etc....the battery just goes. I did get the battery case from ATT, but I've only used it once because it makes the phone so huge. I'm gonna hold off for sure and stick with what I have for now.

Could you point me to some solid battery life reviews?

I like it, but I decided earlier today that it's not enough for me to abandon my current Moto X. I mean, there really isn't anything that I don't like about the original Moto X, so I would only be buying a new phone just because I wanted to buy something new.

So I bought a new pair of shoes instead.

Re: After the reveal, are you excited?

Kinda...I am interested but need to see more.

I am of the same opinion as you (although I bought new shoes last week ;) ): it's really just a spec bump and won't improve the experience over the existing Moto X. I am primarily looking forward to wireless charging and water protection, and it's unfortunately not here.

What really gets me is that the Moto G hits so many high points it makes the Moto X look really bad: SD card, stereo speakers (not that I really care about it), and FM radio (for the gym TVs). I honestly think if they hadn't announced the G at the same time I'd be more excited about the X.

But now ... I suppose I'll wait for the reviews to see if they can drive me with hype. I love the AMOLED displays and responsive Android with quick updates, and I wish I could get that option elsewhere. The Moto features (Connect, hand-wave to turn on, camera activation, Voice) are really nice, but I'd jump ship in a second if Samsung's S5 offered the ultra-quick Android experience that Motorola offers. I love Motorola's design, but your biggest selling point shouldn't be that the other guys spend more time messing up than OS rather than adding value.

I feel the same way although now that I know there is no dev ed for Verizon I can't get the phone unless the chinese middleman can produce unlock codes for it.

Where was it said that there would not be a developer edition for Verizon? As far as I've seen they've not announced them for any carriers yet. If I recall correctly it took a little while for them to be released last year.

Never mind..... I saw it. Bummer.

I like it a lot but few things bother me.
1. No wireless charging.
2. (No biggie) that oversized M logo on the back. It really didn't have to be as big as the camera

Re: After the reveal, are you excited?

I'm disappointed. Seriously disappointed. Essentially the same hardware as the S5, but with a smaller, non-removable battery and no SD card slot. I'd sooner have a rooted S5, I think.

Re: After the reveal, are you excited?

I am pretty disappointed. I was REALLY hoping for a micro SD slot or at least 32 GB base model. I am kinda leary about the possible battery life, although it is pure android, so it might be just fine. I think the phone looks great and the camera has been improved. I just don't know that I can give up my S5 with 32 GB and 32 GB SD card for a 16 GB moto x.

32 GB is an option. As for the battery we don't know how well they implemented, but the have better control of the screen and so despite being larger it takes less power and the 801 has mastery of sipping power and including motos extras on the same line. This is a concern but they nailed it last year and so here's hoping for a repeat.

Re: After the reveal, are you excited?

Disappointed by lack of wireless charging. Can't abandon my lovely TYLT wireless charger.

Motorola pretty much won me over; I'm pretty excited. I just hope the camera is way better than the original X. Although I don't generally take photos to begin with, I feel like I would do it more if I knew my phone had an awesome cam.

I lo ed the features. I have the moto x now and my only concern is ifi will be Able to trade this one in for the newer one. ( with a price I'm sure. Hoping they work out some type of deal. Maybe let us trade in and they recycle the phones we got with the code to customize our own -.-

Wishful thinking I know..
