Good Evening Chris and thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless through our website.

My name is Stan, and I would like to thank you for your feedback on improvements you'd like to see on the HTC DROID Incredible ADR6300 Smartphone, to conserve power.

Your email has been forwarded to HTC for review and consideration. Please note that you may also contact HTC directly at (866) 449-8358 and or online at HTC - Mobile Phones, Smartphones, Cell Phones, PDAs

In the meantime, I'd also suggest to you, to please visit one of our many Verizon Wireless stores to find out if a service technician is available, to complete a hands on evaluation, to confirm that the battery issue is not isolated to just your unit. To obtain a list of stores in your area, please click on the following link, this will direct you to our ?Store Locator? page:

If it is determined that your battery is defective, you will receive a free battery. If it is determined that your device is defective, your manufacturer's warranty provides an equipment replacement option for up to one year from the date of purchase. Verizon Wireless will provide you with a certified like-new device identical to the one you currently have in exchange for returning the defective device.

Certified like-new wireless devices pass over a 100-point quality check before they can be offered as replacements. Since these devices have the latest software version, they often perform better than the device currently being used.

In closing, neither replacement option covers physical or liquid damage, installed devices, additional accessories, or antennas.

We appreciate your loyalty to our wireless products and services, and we are committed to resolving your concerns. I hope the information I have provided has been helpful, and I look forward to assisting you in the future.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to assist you today. We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing Verizon Wireless.

Sincerely,
Stan

My reply was this...

Stan,

Thank you for replying so quickly. The issue is not isolated to just my phone. I speak to hundreds of people on multiple forums who all have the same issues. HTC customer service is also aware of the problem and they have already told me that Bump Charging helps battery life, etc, and I should do this until they can provide a solution. They said over a month ago that they were forwarding my claim to their engineers... I have 3 batteries for this phone. The stock one, the OEM 2150 I bought from Verizon and a 3rd party 3500mAh battery... All of them experience the same issues. The phone does not run off of an external power source when plugged in, like every other phone I have owned, and unless the phone is powered off, the battery never gets fully charged... Between a 90 - 95% charge is all that is done.

This is a problem with the device's circuitry and software interface with the circuitry, and I know that Verizon doesn't actually build the phones, but wanted to pass this to your customer service in the hopes that Verizon can assist in pressuring HTC to address this issue. Verizon is selling TONS of these phones, but they are not working properly at the moment. That has the possibility of reflecting negatively on your company from people who don't understand the technical aspects of the issue or jump to the conclusion that Verizon actually makes these phones... Again, thank you for forwarding this to HTC, but I hope you will forward this point of concern to the Verizon technical department so they can investigate this issue as well.

Sincerely,
Chris

Maybe Verizon will do something, maybe they won't... We'll see...
nice letter. hopefully we'll see some good results

Is anyone having any problems with their new batteries? I just got my backup standard battery from VZW, I put it in the phone and started charging it and it was making my phone freak out. Screens were changing on their own without me even touching it and the screen was getting dim then dark. I put my original battery back in and the problem stopped. I guess I got a bum battery?

Try charging the battery with the phone off. If it's completely dead it might do wierd things from low voltage as it charges.

Hopefully the VZW Rep was true to her word and the software people will get on HTC, but HTC gave more standard answers...

And HTC's response to my initial inquiry... They didn't even get the point, if they even read my letter that is... Battery life, she says... BATTERY LIFE!!! THAT'S NOT WHAT THIS WAS ABOUT!!!

Dear Chris,

HTC is currently looking into a fix for the battery life on your device. In the meantime, I would like to offer a few suggestions that might make you battery last a bit longer. First of all, make sure there are no applications running in the background. Currently, there is no application built into the device, but we are aware of several third party applications that are available for download on the Market that will allow you to close out any open applications. One of these is Advanced Task Killer. While HTC does not provide support for these third party applications, we are aware that many customers with similar issues have used this application and others like it to close out applications and successfully resolve their issue. Another thing you may want to do is when you are not using the data connection for a long period of time, for instance while you are asleep, or at a movie, you can turn off all data connections on the device by going to Home > Menu > Settings > Wireless Controls and turning off Wi-Fi and Mobile Networks. This will save battery life because it takes power in order to search for, connect to, and stay connected to any type of connection. Turning off these data connections will not take away the ability to send and receive text messages or to make and receive phone calls. These connections only effect the ability to get online, send and receive email and MMS messages. I hope this helps. If you are still getting a short battery life, you can perform a soft reset on the device by removing the battery for five seconds, reinserting the battery, and then powering the device back on. If this does not correct the issue, you will need to perform a hard reset on your device. Please Note: A hard reset will delete all personal information and restore the device back to factory default settings. You can perform a hard reset by going to Home > Menu > Settings > Security > Factory Data Reset and follow the on-screen instructions. Also, you can contact our Accessories line to purchase an extended battery. You can contact them by calling 1-888-716-3594 8AM - 8PM Monday thru Friday.

Sincerely,
Sarah

I just bought the Verizon Wireless Micro USB Car Charger with USB Port part# MICRDUALVPC from VZW online. Does anyone know what the milliamp output is on it? It does not say anywhere on the charger or the box. I know the stock HTC AC charger is 1000 milliamps or 1 amp and was wondering if the car charger is about the same.

Since it's a 90-120 charger I would assume it's 1A charger. Especially if its the one with the corded micro-usb with the regular usb plugin on top.

I have the version with no second USB jack and it is indeed 1A.

I promised I'd post my results of this, so here it is, for anyone curious... my question originally was, basically, how fast does the battery life go away when the phone is just sitting off?

Well, at full charge, it was unplugged and left off on a Sunday morning... turned it on on Thursday night, and it was still nearly fully charged (>90%). So that was comforting.

Yeah I got the Verizon no brand one and it has to be 1A. I just drove cross country and back using GPS Navigation, streaming pandora/slacker, downloading podcast etc while driving and it stayed fully charged with the charger plugged in. BTW if anyone lives around the Kingman, Lake Havasu area, strangle someone from Verizon and get some data coverage.

DInc factory reset improved my battery life.

For what it's worth, after 2 months and 3 batteries that gave me at most 9 hours of time (on the Seidio 3500), I finally did a factory reset on my Incredible today. I then reloaded all my apps from AppBrain (thank you AppBrain!), and reset up all my favorite home pages and widgets. I note two things (1) my battery doesn't seem to be draining nearly as fast and more importantly (2) it no longer seems to get "hot" when doing certain tasks (running updating apps, using the camera).

Jury's still out on how long the battery will last before needing a recharge but it certainly looks hopeful.

So, if you've tried everything but factory reset, now might be a good time. Just be sure to back up and I recommend picking up AppBrain while you're at it.

| An update: It's now 10:45pm, some 12 hours after I did the reset. My battery is just now around 50%. This after a pretty busy day with the phone, an hour long conference call, a few texts, and installing every single app that I had before. I'm much happier today than I have ever been with my DInc.

When i'm home i just leave my phone plugged in all day and run off of AC power.... is that ok or will it negatively affect my battery??

Supposedly no. But I have killed several other devices batteries keeping them plugged into the wall. Eventually it will simply quit accepting charge.

the way i figure it theres only really 2 choices... keep it plugged in and use it when needed, or let in stay unplugged where my HORRIBLE reception in my house kills my battery and ill have to plug it in over and over again constantly depleting then refilling charge.

On my days off (today ironically) i'm home all day. 24 hours of my reception being on AVERAGE 100 dbm (really bad), thats a lot of battery usage just searching for signal.

hopefully my poor battery is ok :) haha
