Already Bored...

I can somewhat agree with the OP about maybe being bored, but it sounds like he is just not happy with the phone because it did not meet his expectations.

I was just reminiscing on how exciting the buildup was when this thing got announced months ago. Then it finally gets close enough to be excited. We were hoping for that June 4th release date, but that did not happen, so the next few weeks were ridiculous. Then came June 24th. Ain't nothing like opening up a brand new phone, with that new phone smell.

It was great because this had Sense 3.0. So it was pleasing to explore not just the hardware but new software too. But now, I am pretty much used to it. Still love it, but it ain't new anymore. I can't even play the Green Hornet movie anymore for some reason, but I do not care lol. I haven't accessed any 3D features in 3 days. Now I'm counting down the days until a custom ROM, for something new and exciting.

Same with Christmas.....and a new gf.

To tell the truth I can't fathom how someone could get THAT excited over a phone ... It's a phone ... A PHONE ... Now if this bad boy was making me money I could get excited but it isn't ... As an upgrade from the EVO 4G I couldn't get that excited ... I was basically upgrading the power cuz ultimately my phone's UI looks just like it did before ... Just more features.;)

Yeah coming from a palm pre I'm pretty much always amazed at what this phone can do. Maybe my expectations were low. But then again, if I were expecting the phone to spit out dollar bills I'd be disappointed too lol.

Dual Core
qHD display
Sense 3.0
Better Battery Life

That should.be more than enough. Try going back to your EVO 4G and see how happy you'll be after you use the 3D.

I may be wrong, but it seems many of you are missing the original poster's intent. The intent did not seem to be to offend - though it seems some may have taken offense anyway. Rather, it appears as if it was meant to express a particular revalation of one particular user.

The build up to the phone was enormous, but the 3d is kind of annoying and kind of hurts actually - now what? In the end, unless you are a big time gamer who likes to play games on tiny screens, this is just a phone - and in this respect it is not that much better than the original Evo 4g or Nexus S 4g. In fact, as a phone, it is arguably less effective at worst (battery life for example) or only slightly better at being a phone, at best. Under this perspective, one can see how one could get bored.

You sound a lot like FocusFreak. Could it be? Every post becomes about the Nexus S. Well sorry to disappoint you but unless your just blindly supporting Samsung, the Nexus S isn't near the phone that the 3D is. And it will become even more obvious once the EVO 3D is rooted and then again when Ice Cream Sandwich gets released.

The og evo couldnt even run a live wall paper worth anything without freezing up... Their is really no comparison at all, the 3d absolutely destroys the evo in every way. Also for those of you saying the screen isnt that much better on the 3d, then you must be blind. I had the evo since launch, then the nexus, now the 3d. Both the nexus and the 3d are much faster, and smoother running phones than the evo ever was.

As for the nexus comparison, they are closer than you think in some aspects. I still prefer super amoled screens, but the 3ds screen is no slouch. For the most part opening up applications is about the same on both devices. When more apps are optimized for dual core, than the evo will shine more. The biggest thing I notice is how much better the 3d does web browsing. It scrolls so smooth, and the page doesnt have to be loaded for it to scroll smoothly. Scrolling through the ui aswell feels smoother. While the 3d is not alot faster than the nexus, its just a smoother experience overall. They are both great phones though. As for the gs2, I dont expect it to be that much faster than the evo3d aswell. They should be quite comparable. The 3d is no slouch, and I expect it to compete nicely with the other dual cores.

I'm an OG Evo user, and I have to say that if I did upgrade today, I would probably find myself not doing much anything new really with the phone except maybe recording some 3D videos for the hell of it. One sense Android device to the next isn't really a big jump regardless of the new sense updates. Still Android 2.3, still the same apps available basically.

if the OP was looking for something new, he's not going to find it on the galaxy S2 either. sure gs2 has a better camera and might be a bit smoother in general but it's still an android phone and will function in a similar manner. The apps are the same, well there is one difference, the thing to consider from what i've heard is that the GS2 graphics chip uses a different method of texture compression and a lot of games are not compatible with it until the developer puts in the extra effort to make it compatible. as for battery life, i dunno, the super amoled plus uses more power when at full brightness (the overall brightness nits value is lower than the evo3d, something to consider for those complaining about the evo3d screen not being that bright).

ps. i'm not hating on the GS2. if I decide to return the evo3d in the 30day period, I will be getting the galaxy S2. I was just pointing out that no phone is perfect.

as for the 3D camera, it's a huge gimmick. but the 3D screen isn't. I watched avatar 3D and megamind 3D couple of days ago, the 3D effect was really great. basically, it's a + feature to have than not have. if the phone didn't have a 3D screen, i wouldn't be watching movies on it at all. there would be no reason to.

Yep I read the same thing about that Mali 400 not playing nice with games. Most of the stuff works on the Snappy, but there are certain games that don't play nice with the Adreno 220 either, but I am guessing since it is closer related to the Adreno 205 than the Mali 400 to the Hummingbird GPU, which was the very popular PowerVR, it should take less time for developers to fix problems with games on the Evo 3d than the Galaxy S2.

There are just too many things I don't like about the Galaxy S2, and while it is a fast and nice phone benchmark destroying phone, the Evo 3d is just a much much more complete package to me.

How did you get those movies to work on your phone..?? Is that where the latter part of your name comes in? ;)

No it is not and the reference was made only as an example - one of two. So not sure where you intended to go with this.

Interesting notes, however, I had no such problems running live wall paper on the original Evo 4g - I really liked my Evo - so am not sure if it is such a great leap between the two phones - at least not yet.

I hate to say it but I think people make these threads for attention. I mean what do you really expect when you switch to another android phone. It has some slight updates like sense 3.0 which I love the new lock screen. But other then that your upgrading for the new hardware and so the software on your phone doesn't become obsolete because the hardware can't keep up with android. If you want excitement switch platforms. Touchwiz offers less. excitement then sense in my eyes. My girl has the samsung infuse and that ui is just boring. The screen and camera are great though which is exactly my point. Your upgrading for hardware. If you want excitement I say go be a early adopter of wp7. It looks interesting and if your bored now I don't think ios would help because that's the most boring. I suggest ios to people that just wants something that just works flawlessly and is super simple.

I vote to close this thread, the OP never replied, I think he just wanted to get us all excited here and he achieved that. Either way, we are right, he was wrong...case closed :D

Yeah I returned my Nexus S for the EVO3D..The nexus s is great and all, but the EVO 3D is on another level.

I agree... With a post like that it almost makes one wonder if its trolling.. Thats why I said I think they do it just to get attention..

I am still within my exchange period and am also considering changing, but am struggling with a decision in this regard (like the power and Sense UI of the Evo, but like free wireless tethering, better battery life, and faster updates of the Nexus, not to mention that NFC tech is intriguing) - may I ask why you changed?
