Android 11 public beta now available!!

I am wondering if anyone uses the driving app Dash I am unable to sign on using Android 11 beta 2.

The whole time I had this phone since launch it worked correctly for me. Not until the beta did it stop working correctly. Just a bug to me, not a deal breaker to stop using the beta.

But, do you know for certain that it "worked correctly" - as in, your phone was locked in all places where it should have been? With the Pixel 2 and 3, I used the fingerprint sensor to unlock my phone and always did so as I lifted the phone or took it from my pocket (I really miss the FPS on my Pixel 4 XL btw...), so as a rule I never really tested to see if my phone was actually locking when it was supposed to. As I found in the post I linked above, it turned out that the phone was often left unlocked even when I was thousands of miles from my home "trusted location".

Yes, I only have smart unlock set for two things, when connected to my car and when I'm at home. For the entirety of being home during quarantine, I did not have to use my fingerprint sensor to unlock my phone until beta at home on my couch.

Yes! While laying in bed at night!

I thought it was my imagination; nice to know that someone else sees it also.

I'm using a Pixel 4 XL.
I just received an email from feedback on Google. I reported the issue and it has been assigned. So perhaps it will be fixed by the next beta

Yeah I made a bug report on lower screen brightness the screen flickers
This is going to be embarrassing, but how do you make a bug report? I tried and all I could find was chat help and they only sent me a link which ended up giving me a 404 error.

There a feedback app that came with beta build

I posted few posts ago, have the same issue and Google has acknowledged it and supposedly fix coming within couple of weeks. Workaround is to turn off smooth display (90Hz) if you want. I can't make out difference between 60 and 90 anyway so turned it off for now. I'll turn it back on once bug is fixed.

One bug I have noticed on my Pixel 2 is voice typing does not always stay engaged or engage at all. Other than that this has been really rock solid. Curiously though the voice typing bug appeared a few days after the last update and not right away. Reported

Google Chrome stuttering

I don't know if it's the beta or a problem with Chrome. It used to be buttery smooth. Now it stutters and lags when scrolling through news stories. The Google app on the other hand is smooth. Anyone else? It might be due to a recent Chrome update.

Opting out of beta did not work

I tried to opt out beta 2 and it presented me with the downgrade to Android 10. It erased the data and supposedly installed Android 10. When I checked the version, I was surprised to see I was still on Android 11. I checked for updates and it wanted to install Android 10 again. I tried again and still ended up back on Android 11. I gave up and opted back into the beta and now it says I'm up to date. I did some research and discovered that Google had said some users may not be able to downgrade back to Android 10 due to a known bug. Just a heads up.
