There's people running the Hero and Moment with custom roms that are 2.3 based... I'm sure there will be updates long after Sprint/Samsung give up on it. But word is that 2.3.4 will land officially, and the fact that they ARE making all these builds is proof that they will do it, no use making a bunch of builds and fixing issues if there is no plans to release a final build.

Smart movelooks like I would need to wipe my phone and reinstall all my data contacts and apps. If I am going to do that, then I am doing it one more time and will wait for hacked final release. EXT4 can wait. Phone is running great.

We've had a stretch at the beginning of the month where there was 4 or 5 days of build rdf's. EH06 closes the brower when you hit the "back" button, and I was getting random restarts where EG22 was just fine.

It's pretty funny the Echo got GB (officially) before the Epic. Who would have ever guessed.

If it helps any, the Scrambled eggs ROM is EXT4 and auto converts on install. I have been running it for about a week now and it really seems smooth and stable. I am using the EH06 modem also.
I have no idea what they might be fixing, Ive been on EG22 for almost a week and its really sweet. Can't imagine with could be better (cept a GS2 of course

I will wait for final release. It's too much of a pain to back up and reinstall the apps and move them to the SD card. Got a new 32 GB card coming. I will do it all once, and one time. Then of course it will be time to pick up the GS2. LOL.

Glad to see your having a good time running leak EG22 Ted. Probably wish you would of dove into rooting your device much sooner now that you have a taste of what rooting is all about.

Not Paul, the timing was perfect. I learned all that I needed to learn before I started and optimized my chance of success. I couldn't afford to fail and I have zero regrets.

I'm with you Ted, been doing research on which method to try rooting and whether I should. I have saved several files and am wondering which method to choose. Which one did you use? Odin or OneClickRoot? I'm mainly concerned about battery and phone sleep. Right now I'm using ATK and Stock Task Manager to kill services and apps that keep my phone from sleeping. I'm just getting by thru rebooting several times when I notice that Spare Parts reports the phone is staying awake the majority of the time that the screen is off. Once I finally get it sleeping I try to leave it on. I kill off the usual suspects ORM, SNS, and autostarting apps, even tried deleting vairous 3rd party apps, but nothing is consistent, so I'm suspecting it may be Google Maps, which is odd because my wife's epic never has this problem.

rando, I don't mean to step in but I helped Ted out with rooting his device. He did a lot of research, asked many questions and really thought the whole process through very well.
The route I believe he took was using the OneClickRoot to CWM 3.1.0.1-purple. Then from there he flashed a stock deodexed version of EG22 with root built into it. Its a good version, can have themes or anything you want applied over the top so he has "options" down the road should he choose to use them.
He watched the supplied video for rooting the device and flashing the ROM. All those videos can be watched or researched here in the rooting thread he used.

I used MyBackup Pro to backup my data etc, Root Explorer to move my bloatware, Juice Defender in the b asic stock polsition and used a basic free battery calibration app to recalibrate the batt. I am currently using Voodoo to boost headphone jack volume and I'm happy with EG22 til the final release of GB at which time I will convert to EXT4 and probably do nothing more. I'm not married to my phone like some, just enjoying a casual romance.

I think my Androzip only backs up the SD card contents as that is what I've used it for backing up my apps. The way I see it, rather than Odin to the stock, it would be simpler to wait for the hacked version of the final release and then flash it. Paul, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it will take all of 24 hours for devs to get it done.

Basically Ted your correct. Really rando, once you go rooted I never really hear of anyone going back to "stock" and not rooting anymore. Once your rooted and running the leaked GB build as Ted is you can wait for official GB and normally within hrs to a day at the most the devs will have a flashable version of the stock OS ready to go. So you can still enjoy everything as if you were stock, but you will also retain your root and all the goodies that go along with running a rooted device.
On the subject of backup apps, once you root your device rando I would recommend using MyBackUp Root to backups whatever you want on your device. Apps, personal info, etc... This can all be stored then on your sdcard which is a "safe spot" and is never touched/erased during the rooting process or anything.

Ok Good advice. Can you use the My Backup Root PRIOR to rooting to back up the device just in case something does fail?

You would have to use the purchased version MyBackUp Pro without root. You need root to use the free version.
Rooting your device will not erase or remove anything so once you root it you can then make your backups before you go further and flash ROM/leaked build.
