Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI22 latest build WITH IMAGE

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EF16 latest build

Well, so far so good. I kept the EF02 installed and installed ACE Rom 2.0.Things seem to be going OK.
I did notice that when I had my 16GB SD card installed, CMW would not recognize the files so that I could easily install any .zip file. I had to use my 2GB SD card. Unsure of how that is related, but it was the case although with AnonymousROM as well.

Trusted source of mine has said to expect another .rdf to leak. Still working on the modem and fixing a few things.

ouch. well, modem fix is definitely necessary because i'm sure sprint is getting a lot of people complaining about their terrible coverage but not realizing that it's the phone modem itself.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EF29 latest build

As I stated earlier... there's a new .rdf

EF29 now!

If you look closely: (Linux;Android 2.3.4)

2.3.4!

(Noob question):
so our phones will already be ext4?
No we should still be RFS, unless something drastically changes we haven't heard about. The Epic was designed to run RFS even though its capable of EXT4.

"designed"? I'm probably wrong but I was under impression that epic is basically same phone as the nexus s plus the keyboard and that one is running ext4, is that not so?

Yes and no I guess is the best answer.. I can't remember the exact details of it but the memory is setup on Nexus for EXT4. I think its a different type/version if I remember correctly.

Don't quote me on this stuff but I know the Nexus is setup to run EXT4 from Samsung. The Epic is setup on RFS and therefore the only way you can convert to EXT4 is through rooting your device, in return breaking the warranty on the phone.

Plus there was talk in the beginning when leaked Froyo DK28 came out about the Epic not being able to handle EXT4 in the long term but that seems to have been proven wrong up to this point.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EF29 latest build

Would you suggest that we get the OTA update and live with the RFS, or just wait till someone hacks it and makes a EXT4 for gingerbread?

I would think within hours of getting the official source code which Sammy normally drops before they release the actual OTA update the kernel devs will have something ready for EXT4.
I wouldn't expect us to wait very long at all to have custom kernels with EXT4, overclocked and all the other goodies were used too.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EF29 latest build

I think it's time to look into root and rom. Getting tired of waiting for OTA GB. Just gotta find time to research and learn. Arg!

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EF29 latest build

I was going to put the only version of Gingerbread out there for the Epic on mine but the directions told me to make sure my phone is actually an Epic 4g with this number... Samsung Galaxy S II GT I 9100

I can't find that Samsung ID anywhere written on the phone or in any information given out on any screen anywhere. Does anyone know where you'd find this?

Thanks.. Gary

Little confused here about your claims of making sure you have an Epic 4g or not? It should be cut and dry you either have a Samsung Galaxy S Epic 4g from Sprint or not. The Galaxy S GT I 9100 is the original Samsung Galaxy S version fingerprint from the international version which you wouldn't mostlikely have if your in the United States.

If you do indeed have a Epic 4g then you can install the latest Gingerbread EF02 leaked build.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EF29 latest build

As I said. It was the last bit of instruction on the page. It demanded that you be sure your Epic 4g was the Samsung Galaxy S II GT I 9100. Pretty simple instructions. I'm not sure what confused you? It asked me to be sure directly insinuating that some Epic 4G's were not the exact match. I dug for the number they mentioned and found nothing. I posted the question on here and I do have the Samsung Epic 4G D 700 but haven't found that number anywhere hidden or in the open.

You have a ton of posts on here. Where did you get the number and why did they infer I should be able to quickly check it? The article is titled, "How to put the latest Gingerbread on your Samsung Epic 4G. To have this at the very bottom concerned me since I thought I was reading an article on the Epic 4G. Here's a paste.

"Last but not the least ensure that your phone is Samsung Galaxy S II GT I 9100 and not any other phone as if you proceed installing any other phone then there is a high possibility that you will brick your phone after which your phone will become un usable or will turn into an expensive paper weight."

Thanks if you find time to answer.

I'm aware of the line you quoted. That is something I didn't write/type it was posted by someone else I believe. If you have the Epic 4g then you should be fine. SPH D700 is all you need which if you look in About Phone under Model it should say that.

Nothing wrong with being cautious... You have every right to be..

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EF29 latest build

Getting impatient. 4G is such a battery suck.
