Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build

I am still loving my Epic. Just a few months ago I was scared to root and complaining. Now I am running the Epicurean EG22 ROM which is EXT4, dumped the bloatware, got myself Google video chat and a generic mail client and it is rocking. Feels really stable and its very fast. Benchmarking high 1400s. I think I can wait for the official GB release now.

That's something I haven't thought about, how are the roms in dealing with active sync? the email client on touchwiz has been way better than my coworkers on droids or coworkers with touchdown.

Actually, I NEED a mail app. I tried K-9 which sucked big time and now, I just have 3 separate icons on my desktop for each account. Scrambled Eggs ROM didn't come with the stock mail app so what are others using? I would be happy with that one if I could find it in a flashable zip.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build

I will throw together a zip package for you Ted with the stock email app.

Gingerbread Stock Email
(Flash in CWM, no wipe)

I've been using K-9 and have been reasonably happy with it, since it handles both IMAP/Gmail and POP3. So I can use 1 email client, not two, for both email addresses I use. Sometimes it seems a little slow to connect to the servers (esp. GMAIL) but I've always thought that was the server's fault.

What is it you don't like about it?

I couldn't get any of the accounts to sync.

its the same app. I can't see any diff. but I am not an expert. Or try rooting into 2.3 - definitely an adventure. Youll learn a lot about your phone thats for sure. :D

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build

I know this is a tad off topic, but the Optimus S on Sprint is getting their Gingerbread updates. Lmao... I'm happy with my phone the way it is, and while Gingerbread would be nice to have, like.... now, I don't lose any sleep over it. Just going to be funny seeing comments on how the lowly Opty S is getting Gingerbread before the Epic.

it's still definitely an irritant. luckily, i have my tablets to keep me distracted long enough for when the next nexus device is announced on sprint, hopefully.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build

How do I download the latest leaked version?
The latest leak build that we have to flash is EH17.

The rdf's or builds that are listed after that here have not been released. Rumor has it we may receive another leak by the end of the month.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build

but it's not worth it. Go for an earlier build.

Agreed. EG22 seems to be the sweet spot. Some say GPS and BT not working, but those reports carry onto newer builds with mixed results.

scrambledeggsv7 by EPICurean is pretty clean and fast and based on EG22. Recommended! Just hit a benchmark of 1475. Tried stock EG22 and that typically decompensated after 4-5 days, did it twice. Haven't tried any other custom ROMs based on EG22 and no one has succeeded in making a stable ROM based on a later leak to my knowledge. I would love to know if there is one out there.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build

Any news????? October 7th is less than 3 weeks away!!!!!

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build

I really hope so, if for no other reason to stop worrying about when we'll get it...
