Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI22 latest build WITH IMAGE

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build

Bump!! Damn this forum is dead. Where are the leaks, the news. Anything!!

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build

no to each. GSII is too expensive b/c if you got an Epic, you got it a year ago and still have a year on your contract. anyone that would want a Nexus S (like that traitor Paul) should wait for the Nexus Prime. i think everyon has given up and is resigned to fruitphone 5, which i wouldnt get caught dead with.

Alternatively, I have been exploring tablets and only want one with 4G and it don't exist yet. The search continues. I don't want a new phone, I want a GB leak that is stable or a release. Either one, I don't care but I'm sick of watching my screen freeze up. Its humiliating to be prying the battery cover off in public just to reboot the phone. I feel shame.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build

LOL... Actually I have still been theming for the Epic 4g... I do miss the device, as I said the only reason I'm lucky enough to be on the NS4G is due to Sprint sending me 3 bad refurbs in a row and getting the option to swap devices.

I just did a little work over the weekend for ERA team and a port of HTC Sense they are doing for Froyo EC05 on the Epic and still doing a project theme for the Epic right now so I'm still well apart of the community.

Cheers to that Paul!

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build

Yep still here.. You can change my device but my heart for development is still alive and kicking on the Epic :)

It's funny a new version is posted and nobody gives a crap anymore because GB has been an #epicfail.

I really hope EI21 is the chosen one, the Tim Teebo, Neo, the bear from Kung Fu Panda, Barack Obamas "hope" presidential election speech, I think you get where I'm going.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI21 latest build

Yeah, I gave up waiting and flashed the lastest SRF rom and genocide kernel about a month ago. Now my Epic is a speed deamon and I love it! No fc works like a charm. Awesome battery life. Very strong signal. Fast data. I'm not even tempted by epic touch(Yet)! This is what it should have been when eco5 came out.

Looking forward to gb-based srf :)

<<<<Everyone jumped ship to get a SGS2E4GT>>>>

Not everyone. WOW! Up to 54 pages of waiting and not even a bug fix pushed out. I have to say, that's impressive. To jump to another samsung would be rewarding bad behavior. HOW could you sit through this month after month and jump to another samsung? I don't care how shinny the screen is, at the end of the day it's still a samsung. Shinny screen don't cut it. But it's so fast! Fast at what? Screwing up? And IF it has a glitch or two right out of the box and you need a bug fix????!!!! And my favorite (this is the one that hooked me into my epic after my moment), but this is a flagship phone, they have to support a flagship phone. Right? Well, give them some more of your money and bend over I suppose. Not me.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI21 latest build

That's why I plan my next device to be a Nexus. No more waiting on all of these custom skinned phones to be updated by carriers or manufacturers. Of course, it seems to be the next Nexus will be a Samsung phone, so go figure...

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI21 latest build

I love my nexus. I've been on it about a month now and just missed the 2.3.5 update but have seen 2.3.6 & just the other day 2.3.7 roll out. Not a very big deal in my opinion but it shows how when carriers and the device manufactures get in the way with updates how messed up things get for normal devices. Bottom line if you want to be on the latest and greatest software speaking, Pure Google is the only way to go.

You should note at the GSII forum that many already have been working on custom ROMs since they have a released and somewhat stable version of GB (compared to the Epic) and no matter what phone, there will always be someone making improvements.

The Epic has been all is was meant to be, and for some, another year will not suck before we update to the next flagship which at present isn't even on the horizon. Those that upgrade now, will send too much and be left behind those that let their Epic contracts run out. A little over 10 months to go. Since I upgraded to the Epic from a Treo 755p, I can easily wait it out.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI21 latest build

All I was getting at is, the Epic will be on Sprint's EOL in less than 5 days and we still don't have official GB out. I'm getting really worried that once EOL happens, then they won't release GB at all for the Epic. I'm not that concerned, I'm very happy with SRF 1.2 and Genocide 2.0 on mine. Just want to at least be on par with other phones until my contract ends and I can upgrade. Granted that's over a year from now...

I'm also afraid that without official GB, the devs will give up on this phone and move on to better things...

Have you ever played with the E4GT? That thing doesn't need an update because it's so fast.

I'm afraid too. I like the GB features and all the stable releases are based on EC05. I would think that if they really weren't going to release GB for the Epic, that more leaks would have been made available for the devs to work with. We haven't seen a leak since EH17 and we know that EI21 exists. Without a leak, I may spend some cash to get a new phone. Perhaps that is what they want me to consider because there are many like me that believe that life is short and we need our toys.

The GS2 wasnt expensive if you were a Premier Gold customer and did a trade in, like I did. Primary reason I dumped my OG Epic was that I got tired of the thickness because of the keyboard. Honestly GB on the Epic Touch doesn't give me anymore functionality than my Epic with a nice custom ROM, so unless you have serious issues dont feel bad about not having GB. Look at the nightmare the LG Optimus S users seem to be having, and their phones had basically stock Froyo.

Unfortunately it does need a patch. Data performance across the board is spotty. Compared to my epic, the E4GT only seems to get about 2/3rds the data performance. Doesn't matter if it's 3G, 4G, or Wifi, my Epic beats it every time.

For fun though I did a full benchmarking between it and my OG EPic 4G. Every other bench besides data the E4GT CRUSHES.
