android 4.3 bugs with nexus 4

I'm not sure its a bug to 4.3 or not but last night I unplugged my Nexus 4 from the charger and had something strange happen. The touch screen is completely unresponsive. Not just in the middle as I have read about. Nothing responds. So through stock recovery I wiped it thinking there was something wrong with maybe an app or something. Complete factory wipe and still nothing. Any thoughts?

It happened to me when I was watching youtube and the screen became totally unresponsive. I had to reboot the phone.

I have wifi connection problem and all of sudden my play store died. I did try clearing data, clearing cache etc but nothing works. It just says "connection timeout" and a retry button appears

Hello everyone,

As others have reported, my phone got stuck on the 'X' loading screen after doing the 4.3 software update. After waiting for two hours, I tried turning off the phone but every time I pressed and held the power button down, the phone would just restart. I was finally able to turn off the phone by having the phone hooked up to the factory wall charger and pressing / holding the power button down. Then, I performed the factory reset by holding the volume down key and power button. After the factory reset, the phone restarted and again the phone is stuck on the 'X' loading screen!!!

I called Google Nexus Support. The representative had me power down the phone and do the factory reset (even though I already did it once), and no luck. The phone is still stuck on the 'X' loading screen. Tech support could not help me any further so now I have no idea what to do. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Please help!

Thank you! Looks like some people are waiting for a new phone from Google, while others who are more savvy are using some sort of toolkit and unlocking the bootloader. Not sure if I will know how to do any of that stuff so I may have to wait and see if I can get a new phone from Google.

I had unlocked and rooted my phone. After upgrading to 4.3 it disappeared from Google Play on their website. I unrooted and returned to stock. It works fine now. The process was actually extremely easy

Since 4.3 DWDialer and ExDialer do not give me the option to override the stock dialer with any 3rd party dialer. When I select a contact to call, my only dialer options are stock and Skype.

So my nexus 4 is coming in tomorrow, should i wait for google to update or update to 4.3 as soon as i get it?

Me to but I wonder if 4.3 is not on it whether their is anyway to not update as it seems some bugs have come up. My N7 certainly has a few problems that were not their before. The most noticeable and frustrating is dropped wifi temporarily the other is battery runs down faster..

Just got the phone. The phone is still on 4.2 :]

I was accused in another thread of trolling because I keep pointing out that a wipe-before-OTA is a best-practices approach, and that I lack sympathy for those who refuse to heed advice or, frankly, actually use common freaking sense.

Well, I'm sorry that it offends people, but in my view those are the same people who shouldn't have this technology in the first place because they're too willfully ignorant for their own good. And I'm sorry if coming right out and saying it like that sticks in anyone's craw, but enough is enough. Wipe your phone and then do an OTA if you want reasonable assurance of a successful update, and take your chances on a dirty OTA if that's how you roll. Either way, it doesn't keep me up at night worrying. What it does do is make coming here and participating on this message board a more irritating experience than it really needs to be.

Sounds like you know what you are talking about. May I ask your advice? I'm getting my nexus4 in a few weeks. Will the update happen automatically when I first turn it on. And is that a good thing I'm turning it on for the first time in regards to the possible bugs?
Thank you.

Thanxs for the reply. Do you think I should stay on the 4.2? Or update to 4.3 straight away?

New Nexus 4 owner. Love the phone so far (though coming from an HTC Thunderbolt the bar was set pretty low).

Trying to go through the threads and other online sources to figure out, but guess just isn't clear to me yet if good idea or nor to accept the 4.3 update or not.

Basically, as far as I can tell, everything's running fine for me right now, on 4.2, and most of what I've read on 4.3 is about the problems with it. So, wondering what benefits there would be with going to 4.3 and if folks generally feel the benefits outweigh the risks, or vice versa.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Well, i read up a lot on the bugs and such on 4.3 and there are many. I took the risk and just updated to 4.3 as soon as i got it. I havent had any problems with the phone. But im just an impatient guy :]. Maybe waiting is best buut who knows when google is going to uupdate.

People only go online to complain about problems. The other 99.99% of us are perfectly happy with 4.3

That's a very good point. I think when I get my phone I will update it. If something goes wrong I can reset it, without losing too much.
Thanxs for the advice and info.

I updated to 4.3 right away and its been flawless. Battery life has been more than adequate and the os is smooth as can be. I agree much like any consumer product you hear the problems not the good. +1 for 4.3
