Hi all,

Now that Apple has announced iOS 6, I am wondering what you all think will be the features of the next major version of Android: the REAL world's best mobile operating system. :-)

I am expecting Google to launch a more robust voice actions throughout the OS in order to compete with Siri. However, I don't think Google will take the same approach. I believe they will make it more functional rather than conversational, as Siri is.

I would also expect even better handling of multitasking applications.... but other than these two things, I don't know what to expect.

What do you all think?!

Well since it seems like the next will be 4.1 I'm guessing we will see small optimization. But of we are talking about 5.0 which we won't see until later this year with the new nexus its going to be all majel.

And its not called iOS6 its called iOS with Android features I've had for years

I don't think we'll see Android 5.0 for a couple of years. If you look at previous versions, Froyo was 2.2, Gingerbread was 2.3. Ice Cream Sandwich has been worked on and talked about since last year. A jump to 5.0 assumes a major rework of the entire OS, which is not necessary/probable so soon after ICS.

What does the iOS news have to do with the next android release. Does it need to be a back forth thing?

Shoulda called it "next version of Android". "5.0", "Jelly Bean" - rumors and speculation.

Here's what I want in the next version of Android.

- Built-in remote device wipe via Google account.

- Built-in "Find My Device" feature.

- Google Talk or Google+ Hangouts integrated as the default video chat solution.

Apparently fanboys like to compare "member" sizes.

I have no idea what Google could add, Android does everything for me right now.

Google should add being able to pull down the notification bar over anything, games/full screen apps/etc.

That could ruin the experience for fullscreen games.

I think 4.0 is still too young to be thinking about 5.0. I think we'll see 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 over the next year or 2 before we see 5.0. Not enough phones have 4.0 yet and the majority have gingerbread so ICS is still in its infant stage in my opinion.

I agree. I would think Jelly Bean will be a 4.2 or4.3, like Froyo and Gingerbread.

As for Android 5.0, I have no idea when it will come out, or what features. =]

More than likely Jelly Bean will not be Android 5.0. Seeing how J is right after I and Ice Cream Sandwich was a huge update, i dont think they will put how another huge overhaul until 2 or 3 years. Im not saying that the next update wont be Jelly Bean, im saying that the next update wont be Android 5.0. Probably more along the lines of Android 4.2.

It would be awesome if they went with a different J-dessert.

It should be hidden, and then with a certain gesture be pulled down when you want.

On the galaxy tab 2 the bar at the bottom is "invisible" when I'm reading a book, but I could click on it at anytime to get my back, home, settings, etc. what about something like that?

Exactly, but to be pull-able over anything and everything with a specific gesture.
