Android 6.0.1 issues thread

I have an S6 Edge on Verizon. Ever since I got the Android v6.0.1 upgrade a couple of weeks ago I have the following issues:

1. I can no longer connect my S6E to my PC (Win 10) via USB. Prior to the upgrade I just connected the phone and PC via a USB cable and the PC recognized the S6E as a USB device. I could easily copy files to/from the phone as I can with any other USB device. Now, since the upgrade, the PC doesn't even recognize that the phone has been connected. Yes, I have USB Debugging turned on. I've tried on four different PCs. This is a big problem for me.

2. Wireless charging works less reliably. Prior to the upgrade I had no problems with wireless charging. Now, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have three wireless chargers. Same problem now with any of them.

3. I use a pattern to unlock my S6E. Prior to the upgrade, when I woke the phone from sleep I just entered the pattern. Now I have to first swipe to the right and then enter the pattern. Not a problem but an inconvenience. One more step.

4. Battery run time is noticeably less since the upgrade.

Help! This version sucks.. Using a sony z3.
Can't search for exchange contacts, and can't click on url's in the naive mail app with exchange. It looks like the emails is in plan tnt..

Anyone got a fix for this?

Currently having problem with HTC 10 and Galaxy S7 running 6.0.1 and Android Auto would launch on head unit and freezes up immediately. Works fine with my old Z3 with 5.0.2, and a Moto G 3 with 6.0.

HTC 10. Quick settings customization is not available.

This update is really bad. I have an S6 and my wife the Edge. At first she thought her battery life was better but it quickly went to **** again. On both of ours we can't listen to Pandora because the WiFi won't stay connected. It'll play one song then buffer. I'm kinda pissed and for the first time was thinking about trashing this thing and going to an iPhone. The worst part is that I just got my wife off of iPhone and not the Edge with this new update is working so much worse. I shouldn't have to go around restarting routers, changing settings to get this to work. I really hope they come out with some patches for this to fix these issues, it's awful. I wish I could go back to 5, I had zero problems.

Just updated to 6.0.1

And WiFi keeps dropping out. Battery saver is off.... What's happening. Didn't have this problem till upgrading.

Any solutions???!

Hi All.

I loved my Gold S6 Edge before the 6.0.1 update. Now not so much :-(
My issues are as follows.

Camera seems to come on by itself sporadically
The weather widget now only shows time on lock screen :'(
The new colour of the home screen drop down bar
Sounds for sms not working at all times :'(

They may not seem like big issues and apart from the camera it's not.
But it was part of why I loved this phone soooo much.

I also notice the battery depletes faster now :(

Anyone else have these issues or a work around/fix?

My wife and i both have the s6 edge all of a sudden hers has wierdly pixalated is unresponsive even to a hard reset there is the galaxy title at the top but its got lines through it. Has anyone else had this the phone is really hot as well?

Battery drain has become a huge problem after the marshmellow update. Even after disabling rarely used apps, turning power save on, dimming the screen to 25% brightness, changing to a black and grey theme, disabling location service, turning wifi/mobile data off when not in use, it's still eating up my battery. After just a couple hours of Internet over WiFi, I go from full to 30%.

Certain apps have connectivity issues until I go to force stop them, and restart them, theyll work fine for a while, but then have connectivity issues again. Marshmellow so far has been a very detrimental "update" to what was previously a near flawless experience on the s6 edge.

And I have tried cleaning the cache and rebooting to see if that helps on connectivity, and it doesn't. Hopefully Android Nougat will address these issues. I'm not going to factory reset my phone as I do not feel that will remedy anything.

After updating to 6.01, I have been having the following problems:
1. When receiving a call, I answer it and hear nothing, then it begins ringing again. I answer it again and the same thing happens. On the third try, it is typically connected. This never happened before.
2. Bluetooth connectivity is sporadic for connecting to my paired PCs (Windows 7 Ultimate and Pro) . Sometimes, it will connect so that I can transfer photos and sometimes it does not. Bluetooth connects to the cars flawlessly, just as it did before.
3. As an alternative to using BT to transfer photos to my PC, I previously used a USB cable. After the 6.01 update, I can no longer see the folders on my phones. Sometimes, I do not see the phone in Windows Explorer. Sometimes, I can see the phone, but there are no folders visible. I tried changing the USB advanced settings - no change. I have tried different cables - no change.

These are the frustrating problems that I have had with 6.01. Does anyone have solutions to these?

Eureka!
After I deactivated the battery optimization of the concerning apps (logical & comprehensible 🤓):
- sync runs fine (with imap and exchange accounts)
- global address book from exchange server is back (email, contact, phone & calendar app)
Thank you very much!

Can you please tell which apps you deactivated battery optimization for in order to get the global address book from exchange server to work on contacts and phone apps? Any additional apps other then the obvious ones (phones and contacts)?

OK, updated my Samsung S5 Active to 6.01 Marshmallow yesterday (that was an adventure too... but that's a topic for another thread) and have been working through the Marshmallow issues.
Biggest issue I was having was data issues on cellular and wifi connections.
After checking through the settings and doing some research, I found an issue with the APN settings in the phone.
I googled the settings for my carrier and fixed the ones that were off.... the primary offender with the data was the APN protocol setting. The update had changed it to "IPv6"
I changed this setting to "IPv4/IPv6" and the data speed is now back to the way it was with 5.1.1
So.... if all else fails, go to your settings menu and search for Access Point Names, click on yours to go into the detailed settings and reset them to your phone carrier's recommended settings, and set your APN protocol to either "IPv4" or" IPv4/IPv6" and see if that solves your connectivity issues. :D

...as far as battery life issues, I use CleanMaster and Greenify regularly (at least twice a day) to keep things running smoothly, and BK Disabler to disable lots of the factory bloatware and even some system utilities that I do not need. I almost never need to charge my phone during the day, just charge overnight every night and it's good to go!
