I currently own the regular moto droid and love it. Everything that the new droid x is equipped with leaves me drooling. I have two childhood friends who always one upper me, if I got an atari, they got a nintendo. You get the idea. Currently they own the nexus one and iphone 4, and as usual they constantly harass. Hearing them both rave about the droid x really makes me wish I could shove one in their faces and triumphantly proclaim, suck it, I win.

True story: Last Christmas I got my daughter, who was almost ten years old at the time, an iPod touch. I need some slack here because, you know, she's my daughter and she really wanted one. Well, it was a big hit, especially with my wife.
Whoops.
I managed to keep the peace by (somewhat desperately) letting another iPod touch into the house in January. However my wife still wanted to dump our nearly expired VZW contract and two first generation Blackberry Storms for a trip to Steve Jobs snotty little sandbox. (Look Ma, NO BIAS, well ok, just very reasonable bias).
To make a long story short, I held out with my Storm 1 till the Droid Incredible was available, but after the iPod she was done with the Storm, and the best I could do was divert her to the Droid Eris.
So? now I have an Incredible, she has an incredibly inferior Eris, and overall, that?s just not a good idea? on a couple different levels.
Overall then, I think the Droid X has real potential to be the hottest phone of the year because, as evidenced by this thread, Android Central now has the opportunity to give one to my wife.
This could be a big deal, not previously appreciated by the technical press. See, I figure if Android Central does give a Droid X to my wife, and she does end up both happy and unassimilated, well? then they will have effectively demonstrated to the world at large that life really can be better (even for all the iPod loving, Eris doubting, unknowingly performance crazy non-geeks out there) when you are not stuck in someone else's sandbox.
Plus, I?d really appreciate it.

Nice screen size. Mobile hot spot capability. Fast processor with incredible benchmark tests for running 2.1 - screaming when it gets 2.2. HD video will be great too.

Running the linux kernel-based Android OS and rocking a large display and killer interconnectivity with the apps I use everyday (skype, bunch of google stuff) while simultaneously streamlining the experience, the Droid X is looking to be an amazing phone.

Coming from a BB user, Droid X is like heaven. One of the best android phone out there and it's gonna get the official Froyo upgrade!!! And can I say....possibly be one of the first getting Gingerbread as well! It's going to use the iphone 4 as a dish rag. Not to include the awesome specs wrap on this thin-slick beast. 8 GB for apps! The ability to resize the widgets!! I can go on for days going over how awesome this phone is

The phone itself is amazing, but it's really the Motorola/Verizon relationship that's taking this phone to another level. If it wasn't for that relationship, it would just be another cool phone that everyone has forgotten about a month later.

I think I need this phone cause I need a phone to get me off this iPhone 4. I have had the Droid, Evo, and Incredible. I love the Android platform but been bored lately and would love to get my hands on this device in hopes of bringing me back from Apple to Google. Heck I have been against Apple since the phone launched a lot of people are surprised I even got an iPhone. I have thought about getting the white one as well but this phone may stop my iPhone addiction.
I would give up my Iphone 4 for it. That's why. Tired of the left HANDED FINGER GRIP OF DOOM...........
The Droid X will be the phone converting this blackberry user of 5 years - it's essentially a piece of jewelry that accomplishes much more than calls. Is the robust and tested Blackberry push email trade off worth it? Absolutely.
Im currently using a samsung rogue and quite frankly am getting tired of the slower load times and just not enough stuff on the phone itself. The droid x should be able to keep me entertained for quit sometime as this thing had me entertained for about 4 mounths, only had it for 6! The 1 ghz prossesor proves fast enough to surf the web, the video capabilities on this phone are the best out there, 8 gb memory on phone, 16 gb card included, plus 512 mb ram, not to mention the android market that has an unbelievable nunber of apps! I cant wait to get my hands on this big beast!

I would love to finally win some thing. Plus I'm a poor Ca. State worker on Federal minimum wage. Also all the Officers at my work are walking around showing off their brand new IPhone4's and it would be great to shove it back in there face.
