Android Messages and iMessage reactions

This may have been covered earlier, but does anyone know what iPhone users receive when somebody uses an RCS reaction?

Just curious.

The RCS reaction is only available when sending to another Android user.

Correct, reactions on Android are only available if all message recipients are using RCS.

So the google side of making this happen is now no longer tied to a beta OS, and it's just now baked into an updated version of the google messages app? Wonder if Samsung messages app will eventually also be likewise updated? Not sure I understood what the article said about carrier dependence. Seems this has nothing to do with the carriers at all (or maybe I am missing something).

I personally like the reactions in Google Messages, especially when I'm texting my mommy. 😁 I haven't tried to do that with the regular SMS app very often.

I'm not on the Google Messages beta and don't have the option yet. (My Google Messages is on version 10.7.470 (10.7.460_RC10.phone dynamic))

Have a lot of folks on the beta seen the option in settings and experienced it in action? I'm on the beta but still no option for me. The slow roll by Google is always frustrating.

I am still confused if you need beta of the OS to get the feature, or just beta of the next version of the Google Messages app.

Just beta of the Messages app. I don't have the beta OS, and the feature works for me.

Ok. That I think makes sense, but then one of the earlier articles was miss-leading, about rolling out through the carriers, unless it actually also needs to involve use of some RCS features.

Can you confirm you do not have RCS enabled, to make this happen?
