Android P (Dev Preview 3) -- Live!

I have noticed that the Samsung Gear app still isn't working and that my Gear S2 was connected this morning and still getting its notifications. But I noticed now half way through the day that my Gear S2 is not connected to my phone and I have tried to restart my phone and the watch and can't get a bluetooth connection to establish between the two. The only other way I know of fixing this is the Gear app but it is broken on the Android P right now. Has anyone else had issues getting their watch to connect just via bluetooth?

I press one of the volume buttons and a small menu pops up. Then touch the settings icon and there is all volumes settings. I actually like this and have gotten used to it.

Seems like a step backwards to have to go into the settings menu. Why go away from volume rocker controlling ring unless media is actually playing? Is this really the only way to (currently) adjust ring volume in P?

TBH I don't use the volume rocker for ringer volume. I set it once and forget it. I use the quick toggle above the volume menu to toggle between vibrate & ring.

I get what your saying but you understand it's the volume settings .menu not into the main menu. Takes like 2 secs to open and all volume stuff is right there but also rare for me to need once things are set. I don't mind it at all , YMMV

yes the volume keys on the side of the phone have adjusted media volume by default throughout P, not ring volume. I was on the fence about it but I'm good with it now.

Still can't tell the difference between Natural and Boosted colors options, even with the new photo...

noticed something when I was out walking today. with the phone in my front shorts pocket screen facing inward it would turn itself on and randomly except touches from inside my pocket without help from my fingers. pulled it out once and saw it was in airplane mode and the brightness turned all the way up. going to keep an eye on it and see if this is a bug or what. I do have the on my person setting turned off.

Did you check to see if you had any ghosts or goblins in your pocket?

This should do it
Yep

That's weird, I can see an obvious difference between boosted and natural. I mean, the difference is subtle between them but it's definitely noticable. If you look at the left side of the picture behind the bird when you change them you should see a change in the colors switching between them. Saturated is very big difference.

I really like the gestures with Android P but I don't understand why they've kept the back button still this long. why haven't they implemented a left swipe from the home pill to go back in apps? the back button looks awkward in apps as well. is it a technical limitation that won't allow the swipe to go back? can't understand the decision not implement the swipe to go back.

Yes.....subtle but it's there

I think you may be missing the point. I get it's not a huge time suck but it seems to go in the face of where tech is headed, and frankly it's more of a hassle for users. I can go into a text thread to reply or I can do it from the notification shade. Only adds 2 seconds but why add a step where it's not needed?

Old implementation was situationally aware of what the phone was doing and the rocker automatically adjusted what it should adjust. The software is now dumber.

That's not necessarily true. Plenty of times I'd pop on a YouTube video and go to turn the volume down because it would be blaring, and it would turn the ringer down instead. Most people don't adjust ringer volume constantly. They set it at a specific level then just cycle through ring, vibrate, silent. Now media volume is a different story, so this implementation works better for me.

Sounds like the implementation needs fixed not eliminating the functionality.

I like to change the volume depending on if I'm home, at work, outside, at a restaurant, etc. If the change is here for the time being, even a quick toggle between media and ring from the pop-up would make sense. No reason to have to go into settings for something this simple.
