Props to Google for the new Accessibility Menu! That seems like a step in the right direction for simplifying navigation for a chunk of users. Then again, who knows what a full-on gesture approach to navigation could do to enhance accessibility/usability? Hmmm?

Jeez. If you enable the "remove animations" in accessibility, the phone gets stupid fast, lol.

Wow, no kidding regarding killing the animations. Didn't think I'd notice a diff, but yeah, sweet.

Sure is faster. Even though I had reduced them in dev options that toggle really does make a difference.

Removing animations seems to make the screen flash every time there's a screen transition. That seems more annoying to me than the speed difference is worth.

Yeah. Too fast for me, too.

I can't believe they didn't make dark mode through setting and message app just Google now and app drawer...

One of the first things I noticed with my Pixel 2 when I got it was that even with the animations it feels fast and fluid. Every other phone I've had for the past several years (you know, galaxies and LG'S) I have had to enable Dev settings and turn them down to make the phone feel faster. I don't feel the need to do that with my Pixel 2 which is awesome and a testament to how good the software is.

That said, I do prefer to run Nova at "Nova" animation speed, it makes the phone feel just a tad quicker without ruining the animations and transitions. Plus I like to customize some of the gestures anyway (still cannot believe you cannot swipe down for notifications on the home screen on the Google launcher). But otherwise I love the speed of the animations on the Pixel 2 and feel no need to change them like I used to.

So far battery is a lot less efficient for me on DP 4. The phone lost 18% overnight today. It's never lost more than 8% overnight with AOD on. No clues in battery stats either. Maybe it's just DP 4 "settling in." For now, I'll see how it does with AOD off, cuz I don't want to have to factory reset today.

I lost about 3% overnight with Wi-Fi and the VPN staying on.

Getting a little worse battery life than the previous beta. Nothing too bad though.
