Another One Click Root Method Available [3/26]

Just came upon this in the 'program' box. I'll type out exactly what it says, and then explain why I see it as an issue, lol:

SDK Directory found
Checking build.prop ro.product.version
'adb' is not recognized as an internal or eternal command,
operable program or batch file.
If the above number ends in 605.6 or 605.9 then you can root,
IF NOT THEN YOU CANNOT ROOT USING THIS METHOD!!!
Do you wish to begin? (this process will wipe your phone), y or n?

Well It doesn't say a number at all. Does that mean I can't root? If that IS what it means... what do I need to change in order to allow myself rooting capabilities?

hit yes..

hit yes..

Couldn't push the files using abd. And yes, I have sdk installed and everything now. I don't understand what file direction I'm supposed to be giving it. The one it asks for is the one with no adb.exe in it. And the one with abd.exe obviously won't have the needed files that adb is going to be used to push. Am I supposed to merge them, or did I not do something right?

I wasn't afraid to root my Fascinate but all this stuff is scaring the **** outta me. lol..cant lie. Im not comfortable with this -_-

What folder is adb.exe in? It should be something like C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools . You're going to want to have all of the files for the one-click-root in the same directory as adb.exe .

Open up your command prompt and set up your adb.exe and once it notices your device drag and drop the bat file you downloaded for the one click into the Cmd prompt and whaaa laaa it will start up for you. Just follow the directions step by step and it will set you up. Also make sure before you do this you have put your downloaded exploits into your C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools folder.

I'm feeling the same way. Not because I'm scared to root, but I feel like everyone assumes we know exactly what is going on, simply because this is the "easy way out" for rooting. There have been NO instructions for the process other than "follow the instructions" which there are virtually none of...

Really, I'm sorry to sound like a jerk about it, and I hate to act that way towards people who want to help, but honestly (speaking only for myself) I am completely clueless on this whole, and would love to start out the "easy way" if there was an explanation of how to go about the process. I enjoy learning things like this, but just being thrown in and being expected to know things that I'm prepared to learn about.. It's a little frustrating after 3 hours of running around in almost complete darkness.

And I understand that you guys are throwing all the pieces at us, but I for one am not really getting what to do with them. They're just kind of... there. And being called a "one click root" came across to me as "Hey DL these files and run the program!" I didn't expect everyone to assume that I had every little piece in place and prepared to go on command.

Sorry, that little rant is over. Can someone just put together a step-by-step of where the files I downloaded need to be, and where the SDK I downloaded comes into play? I'm seriously eager to learn and gain experience, if there's anybody willing to just walk me through it once.

Did you copy the extracted files from the exploit zip and paste them in the platform-tools folder? The path should start with C: and end with platform-tools. Open the platform tools folder and copy the path from the field box up above on your computer... paste it in the terminal when asked.

Just to make sure.. you ran SDK and downloaded the platform tools correct?

C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools <== That is what it asks me to direct it to. Problem is, there is no folder in android-sdk-windows called "platform-tools" but I DO have that folder, platform-tools (with adb.exe), in the folder I downloaded called "sdk." Should I just drag the adb over to the android-sdk-windows\platform folder?

In the folder I downloaded called "sdk" I have a platform-tools folder. I ran whatever it prompted me to run as sdk was downloaded. the items in C:\Users\*******\Desktop\sdk\platform-tools are as follows:

lib
aapt.exe
adb.exe
AdbWinApi.dll
AdbWinUsbApi.dll
aidl.exe
dexdump.exe
dx.bat
fastboot.exe
llvm-rs-cc.exe
NOTICE.txt
source.properties

No, keep adb where it is. It doesn't matter what the exact path name is as long as you know where the files are and they're all in the same folder. Put all of the files from the exploit.zip, as well as the other two zip files and the batch file into the folder with adb. Is it C:\Users\*******\Desktop\sdk\platform-tools for you?

When you start up the program, it asks you where the files are located, and you'll want to put in the whole path (C:\Users\*******\Desktop\sdk\platform-tools).

So I want everything having to do with the root in the same folder as adb?

Oh, and does it matter if I move files over from the exploits folder as individuals, or should I just move the whole unzipped folder with the files inside?

Yeah. (And I'll apologize in advance if I'm not 100% clear on some things...I just learned all of this yesterday and today through some trial and error :))

It's OK if you move them over individually. You'll want the individual files themselves, not the exploits.zip file.

And yes... Take the files out of the folder when you paste them.

Last thing before I try it: Do I need PG05IMG.zip and PG05IMG-downgrade.zip in the folder? I don't even see where I downloaded that, but it's right next to PG05IMG so I'm assuming they came as a package. lol

Edit: I lied, one more question. The folder I DL'd that is called android-sdk-windows by default.. Where does that go? I don't remember if I unzipped it or it was by default, but I have that one, and feel like it should go with the adb, but I'm not sure.

Did you get those from trying the other "one click root" method? The files that I downloaded for this method (from Index of /thunderbolt) were:
PG05IMG.zip and
RUU_Mecha_VERIZON_WWE_1.03.605.10_Radio_1.02.00.0103_2r_NV_8k_1.37_9k_1.52_release_165253_signed.zip

They might all be the same, but I don't know...

If you chose to install the SDK to C:\Users\*******\Desktop\sdk\platform-tools when putting it on your computer, that should be OK.

Do you have a folder called "android-sdk-windows" right now on your computer? Or was that just what the default was?

I'll take that as I don't need it. I got that file from the link in the beginning of the rooting program. It's something like dl.google/android/android-sdk_10..etc... I'll just go ahead without moving that anywhere.

All this is on my desktop, so I'm not gonna keep putting in the extra directory info lol. I have a folder called "sdk" from the link that Cyber provided, which has the adb in a subfolder. Then I have the other folder from a link in the program for the root. I'll just run it with everything in the sdk\platform-tools folder, and see if it takes me where I wanna go.

Yeah, just wanted to make sure we were on the same page :). One of the first things the batch file asks you is for the directory path, so just make sure you do type in the whole "C:\Users\*******\Desktop\sdk\platform-tools" there. You'll know you typed it in right because you'll be able to see it start pushing the files.

Yup, got that. I'm to the part that says I need to rename the RUU folder (with the long name) and place it on the root of my sd card. Which means..?
