Another One Click Root Method Available [3/26]

Yup, got that. I'm to the part that says I need to rename the RUU folder (with the long name) and place it on the root of my sd card. Which means..?

You have to rename the RUU zip file from RUUblahblah.zip to PG05IMG.zip and put it in your sd card in the main folder for the sd card. To make it less confusing, I copied the RUU file over to the SD card first, then renamed it to PG05IMG.zip once it was on the SD card.

Before you're rooted, I think PG05IMG.zip is the only file name that the bootloader will accept, so anything you want to flash has to be named that at first.

It's loading/checking PG05IMG.zip now. Just waiting on that, deleting the file, and moving along.

Hmm... Is it supposed to roll back to December 16th? It was Feb 23rd before, and now it went back to Dec. 16th.

Where is it saying Dec 16th? I may just have been woefully ignorant of any of the dates that showed up anywhere...:-[.

Keep going..lol. make sure you delete the PG05IMG zip that you renamed off the SD card and put on the other PG05IMG you downloaded.

It was on the bootloader screen. Not a big deal, the phone rebooted and has 3G... worst case scenario at this point... I'm back where I started but with wiped data. Lol

How many times did your phone reboot? After the first one you need to skip the phone setup and switch out the zips and continue on with the root method.

It rebooted into boot mode, and then I hit enter/power and it unzipped and checked a bunch of stuff from the PG05IMG.zip (the date was Feb 23 at that point), then said "update now?" "yes = up, no =down" and I hit yes. Was that bad (date was Dec. 16th after I hit yes)?

It didn't actually reboot again until after that update though.

Edit: Shoot, this part with the "now gaining root and MMC" has been stuck for about 10 minutes... Debugging is on and the .zip is deleted... That was bad, huh? v.v

It won't open on your computer.. you need to rename it and put it on your phones SD card..and leave it zipped.
On your SD card rename: PG05IMG_downgrade.zip to PG05IMG.zip and start the One Click root. It will guide you through everything.
After the phone boots up for the first time.. skip the setup guide and you need to delete the first PG05IMG.zip that you renamed and replace it with the new PG05IMG.zip.
Make sure you turn on USB debugging and switch from PC mode to Mount as disc drive mode every time you reboot.

You should have two PG05IMG zips. The one that says downgrade gets renamed and loaded first. After the phone reboots.. delete the zip off the sd card and put on the second PG05IMG zip... continue the root process. Your phone will reboot one more time and you're all set. If you forgot to switch the zips.. just re-run the One Click again.

No, that was good that you updated with the PG05IMG.zip. I think that version (the one that was originally RUU) came out on 12/16 and your previous version (the release version) was finished 2/23.

Not sure about the now gaining root and MMC part. Is that on the bootloader screen on the phone or in the batch file on your computer?

So you start by putting PG05IMG_downgrade.zip on the SD before you even begin rooting, removing the "_downgrade" from the name once it's there. Then you start the One Click. Is it right up to that point?

Where does moving the RUU...zip and renaming it come into play, if I'm just swapping the above PG05_dg.zip folder for the PG05IMG.zip?

This is what got me frustrated in the first place. Why wouldn't they add instructions like this right on to the page where the root method is? Ugh...

I think PG05IMG_downgrade.zip and the RUU*.zip are the same file, just renamed depending on where you get it from. The RUU/downgrade.zip file is flashed to your phone to take you back to an older firmware that's vulnerable to the rooting method. Then you root, etc., and then upgrade the firmware to the PG05IMG.zip version.

What point in the process are you at?

Yes .. you can rename it before you start. Rename it on the sd card so you don't confuse it with the other one on your computer. After the first reboot... you will be back to the phones setup screen... skip it. Turn on USB debugging and switch to Mount as hard disc. Open the sd card and Delete.. do not copy and paste over it... delete the zip and put on the new one from your computer... continue in terminal with the root. Phone should load up one more time and reboot... you are now rooted.

Well I restarted, but I get what you mean about the files being the same.

Now I'm getting an "error: device offline" message after typing in the file path. Everything is in the same spot and I'm typing it the exact same way... Man.

Damn! So all I had to do before was move the other PG05IMG onto the SD card? That's why it wasn't finishing..? I don't understand why these instructions aren't given during the process. I also don't understand how you guys seem to know this as if it's common knowledge. I'm getting so worked up over this. It's ******ed. Lol

Where are you typing in the file path? After you restart for the first time, you should be able to follow what Cyber Warrior just posted starting with after the first reboot.

Don't feel bad.. I forgot to switch the zips the first time also... second time I was good to go.

It's ok, you're almost done! :)

Yeah, I think it's a little disingenuous to call it a one-click method with all of the manual stuff involved.

C:\Users\*******\Desktop\sdk\platform-tools <-- is exactly what I'm typing, except replace the *'s with my name.

And do I maybe have to redownload the drivers since I wiped my phone clean now? Idk what "device offline" would mean. I mean, it's on, in Hard Disk mode, and debugging is on. Exact same circumstances as before when I started.
