Hmmm. So is the battery life any better without the Media app there?

In regard to Widgetsoid, I've never tried it but have heard excellent things about it. It seems that Widgetsoid is more customizable, but it's also considerably larger in app size (2.7 MB vs 333K download), and I always lean toward more lightweight apps. Since Power Toggles does exactly what I want and not much more, that's what I stick with.

So, now it's time to back up all your files that are on your SD card onto your computer, format your SD card, put your back up back onto your SD card and see what it does.

For more details, see my separate thread--but the short story is that I wonder if Google Maps' Location Reporting might be a big cause of increased battery drain ever since the JB update. If people are having problems, try turning it off:

1. Open Maps.
2. Hit Menu button, then Settings/Location settings/Location reporting.
3. Select "Do not update your location."

I'm trying it. I'd be curious to hear others' experience.

Try turning off Location Reporting in Google Maps as I mentioned above.

Using GSam, I was able to find my "Media" app. Mine is only using 0.2%. When I click it, I can click manage, and it the phone settings it comes up to the "Downloads" app. You can disable this. Try disabling the "Downloads." Click the settings button, manage apps, All Apps, scroll down till you find downloads, force stop and disable. Let's see if this makes that stop. I have mine disabled now and see no ill-effects of it on my phone.

Let me be sure I've got this right. You removed the SD card and the Media app disappeared from the battery stats for a period of time -then- returned to reappear in battery stats while the SD card was still out. Is that correct?

That's really bizarre. Obviously, if it's happening with the card removed then formatting it can't help. Sorry, I'm done...out of ideas other than a full factory reset.

I wonder why it's showing up as "Media" if when you touch yours it takes you to "downloads." That is weird.

Right. From the poking around I did (post #20 in this thread) the Download Manager is one of several functions controlled by Moto services. I'm beginning to wonder if this may not be being "called" by a rogue or malfunctioning app. Can't be right for it to constantly appear like it does or to consume massive amounts of battery. I'm at a loss.

Did you get it in March, mid March, end of March, April? You might still be in on the manufacturers one year warranty. If we can't get this solved, I would call up Verizon and see about a replacement. Tell them you have tried multiple soft resets, hard resets, FDR's. They should send you a refurb one in about a day. So, if you call tomorrow, and they can't figure anything out, it will be with you on Wednesday.
