any droid maxx/turbo users ever use LG? (camera questions and more)

Then you and I have an extremely different set of experiences, because my Maxx pics were dog$hit. The colors were always crap on that thing, it's like it had a colored filter over the lens. I stopped using the Maxx as a camera a week after I got it, and carried my old Galaxy S3 with me if I needed to snap a photo. And I tried it again after each update and while it improved a bit, it still wasn't as good as my Galaxy was. Most of the camera apps I have I picked up during my tenure with the Maxx. And the reason I didn't exchange or send it in, is because every display model, and a few that other people had all came out the same. Which is why I can't believe people are more satisfied with that camera over the Turbo. I've taken better outdoor, indoor and lowlight pics with my Turbo than I ever did with my Maxx. The only thing I've ever seen as an issue with the Turbo was the shutter speed, but I've still never had the amount of blur that you guys are getting in any lighting condition. So while you might get angry that people don't see your point of view, it's the same for me when people talk glowingly about the Maxx. In my opinion they would've been better off leaving the camera out of that phone and used the extra space for a larger battery.

Well, I fall between you and jamileov on the Maxx camera overall. I agree that the Turbo blows it away in most situations. The situation in which it is better is lower light motion. I don't care if the colors are better if the pic is too blurry to use, and that's my experience. Over and over again, with different camera settings, with third party apps, etc. It may be one type of situation, but it's a very important one to me...and it's one that isn't obscure overall by any means (just because some folks don't take a lot of pics like that doesn't mean there aren't a lot of others who do).

jamielov is over-selling the Maxx camera overall, but obviously his experience is based heavily on what the Turbo does worst.

Thank you all for the replies. I have been waiting and hoping for a camera fix or maybe thinking lollipop could possibly fix my pics, but I am constantly missing shots and opportunities now, and I don't really want a whole summer of what I consider bad photos.

I truly love this phone, and obviously there is a give and take with any phone one pics, but the decrease in quality from my maxx to the turbo sucks. The closest I can find for the combo of camera and battery is the G4 (well if the rumors are true). I'll be giving up some battery life, but truthfully, I'm usually close enough to a charger (home, work desk, car) that I can get juice when I need it. Also it is rumored to have quick charge as well. So it may be worth a look for me. Just LG as a whole I have no experience with, so the feedback is great.

If you can find a new discounted LG G2 (I have seen a few, new in the box) for as little as $199. I have seen both Verizon and ATT/TMo brands and the G2 camera is almost as good (it has a 13 MP sensor with OIS - It doesn't have the G3 laser) and is a bit smaller @ 5.2" screen than the G3 which I find just a little too wide and too long for my taste. It holds up well even today with a Snapdragon 800, 2 GB RAM, 23.5 (out of 32) out of the box, wireless charging built in (except for ATT), a gorgeous 5.2" IPS 1920x1080 screen with minimal bezel and excellent battery life (3000 Mah) - better than the G3 or S6. You won't feel too far left behind with the G2 - check Amazon, Best Buy and Ebay for those discounted fire sale prices (I got mine @ Best Buy - the Verizon version).

I always make it a point to say, though, these are my personal thoughts and experiences. I've posted enough perfect light yet something blurry in the pic examples to show for me...I'd rather a slight color issue than an entirely unuseable photo. My examples from easter were the last attempts. Every pic of the baby had 80% of the pic in focus and 20% blur, which is unuseable. I'd rather a good photo I can keep and at least look at. But again, these are personal preferences. I think with the Maxx the google camera gave me the best color results, not stock camera app. With the turbo no matter what I tried for my uses, the blur just couldn't be solved. And as I said, the majority of pics I took were either hockey relayed or concerts, and the turbo just didn't perform well at either (for me) when compared to the maxx.

I agree on the LG G2; I have that and a Moto Maxx (and an older One M7). I think it is still one of the best dollar values available, even today...and not just because of the camera. And my T-Mobile G2 is even running Lollipop to boot (via OTA, along with the M7; funny how newest phone is still running the oldest software of the 3)!

The reason I am not so down on the Turbo as some others here are is that I haven't had those issues with blur as some of you have. I believe I even stated that in my previous posts. The action shots I have taken have been of my black lab and so far the Turbo, at least in my experience, has done almost as well as my Lumix P&S.

The reason I can't see the Maxx as a better camera is, yes, your action shots may be blurry, but to have the colors look like a camera from 5 years ago on every picture. And I tried getting better looking colors with photo editing software, but no matter what I did, they still looked worse than any previous smartphone camera I had going back to the original Droid Incredible.

I'm not saying this to try and change your mind about it, I'm just trying to convey where I'm coming from. I agree if you're getting blur from action shots in situations where you didn't plan on taking pictures and only have your phone with you, I'd be upset. But in cases where I know I'm going to be taking photos, I'll take my Lumix with me rather than take a chance my phone's camera isn't going to be up to par. I mean it's not like the P&S cameras of today are large. In many cases they're not much bigger than the phones themselves.
