Anybody else still not have Lollipop on the Wifi-Only version?

Still haven't received Lollipop on Nexus 7 (2012)

I tried a factory data reset. Still haven't received the OTA update on my Nexus 7 (rooted). Any other options?

Consider yourself lucky. There is no shortage of people flagging back to 4.4.4 following an OTA update to 5.0 (I'm one of them). I also have two other 2012 Nexus 7 in the house that have not received the update. Additionally, the one I flashed back to 4.4.4 has not prompted me to update in the 3 days since I flashed back.

I'm seriously starting to think that Google has halted the updates due to the number of problems it's causing. Why else would so many people not have received the update yet?

How you get the upgrade OTA is a random number generator grants you a update when your N7 checks in for updates daily. Other than sideloading it there is no longer a way to trick Google into giving you the update faster.

My N5 got it two weeks ago. My 2013 N7 got it about 6 days ago. My old 2012 N7 [wi-fi] still hasn't got it yet. I really like the Lollipop update a lot but there isn't anything that it does that knocks my socks off that I can't wait for the update.

No official update. Was tired and installed ParanoidAndroid beta...

Still, Lollipop isn't a big deal yet IMO

Re: Still haven't received Lollipop on Nexus 7 (2012)

I know this is for the WiFi version but I still don't have Lollipop for my 2012 Nexus T-Mobile version. I've read that Google was supposedly investigating the problems people are having with the 2012 model so I kind of think that is why I still haven't got it yet.

I did have to stop using my Nexus 4 because even with battery saver activated, it still drained the battery too fast with very little usage.

Just thought I'd drop by & say I still haven't been updated. Anyone got the OTA Lollipop yet?

Maybe we'll get it now that the 5.0.2 image has been posted. Maybe........

Re: Still haven't received Lollipop on Nexus 7 (2012)

Got 5. No sign of 5.0.1 here on my N7 (2012) and now there's reports of 5.0.2 showing up in factory images.

OS manufacturers seem incapable of releasing a product without sufficient testing (even on their own devices) these days. Perhaps they should get it as close to 'right' as they can first time and not rely on point updates (and user's own data / internet plans) to fix their sloppiness?

Not trying to blindly defend Google here but IMO it's impossible (or not economically possible) to test every possible configuration in the field after being out for 2 years and filled with who knows what. That's precisely why Google does gradual updates instead of all at once and yes, some end up being guinea pigs. But that should not be a surprise with Nexus because at least originally that was one of the main points behind Nexus and those who bought Nexus actually enjoyed the process.

I had issues on my 2012 Nexus 7 wifi with the 5.0 update like most others were experiencing. I flashed the 5.0.2 factory image as soon as it hit the airwaves and my device is running smooth and fast again. Hoping it stays this way, but it appears this 5.0.2 specific update to N7 2012 has really helped my device's performance....

I agree completely with the mentions of 5.0.2 being a much better version. Tablet is running smooth, battery life is nice and standby time is really impressive. Goes to show that 5.0/5.0.1 wasn't fully baked and needed a little extra cooking time :P

This is google's own device, they should be able to give us the update promptly. Still no OTA for me.

I had to sideload since my bootloader was unlocked. My 2012 is so slow (even before the update) that it's pretty much unusable. I'm thinking about getting a 2013.

They did for some and it didn't work for all as expected so they are fixing issues. Explain why you want a build that potentially can cripple your tablet?
Or do you think Google should just magically release a flawless build for everyone at once?

While there is no doubt that Apple has released iOSs that have had issues and require .x.x patches (sorry....'updates'), the main argument that they build their OS to serve their own hardware (read Android on Nexus devices) means that they do release the OS all at once. Granted, it also means that everyone feels the pain, but at least they then see if its a consistent issue and can address it.

Google does not release their OS into the wild for other devices - leaving the manufacturers to tweak it as best for the hardware they use and the peculiarities they build into their own version of the OS. If a hiccup occurs for, say, a Samsung device, it may be an issue with Samsung, not Google. But at least Samsung should be able to discount the base Android from the equation because its already been out and on all Google devices - and any issues noted and already fixed.

Staggered release only results in a bunch of Nexus devices out there with a multitude of full and failed OS installs of various flavours and absolutely no way of tracking consistent issues over the same hardware and configurations. And it still leaves a bunch of frustrated users in its wake.

(Oh, and yes - I believe they should wait until they have a stable OS that runs on their (few) models of their own nameplate. If they can't do that, they need to do a re-think)

Magically? No, I think they should be able to program their OS well enough to support their handful of devices in a timely fashion. If it's so difficult to make something run on 6 different devices, then they are doing something wrong. Microsoft puts an OS on zillions of hardware configurations all at once, with mostly good results.

Same thing happened to me FryGuy66. I hope and pray that v5.0.2 will come along soon and save the day and I won't have to trash the currently useless device.

Got the OTA 5.0.2 last night. Given the articles and promises of improvements, I'm not sure if I'm actually seeing them or simply wishing it to be so.
Issues with Chrome and Facebook on 5 a moot point now as I've moved to Dolphin and m.facebook.com and I guess I may be see shorter lags or black screens as apps open and I may, in time, notice better battery life - or it could just all be the kool-aid we're drinking. Just want my N7 to work as intended - OS 'improvements' only good when they work.

I went with a clean install (flashed the factory image) and everything has been okay.

And this one is a good update. Chrome is working perfectly, its fast, fluid and doesn't freeze constantly. I lasted a matter of hours using 5.0 before going back to KitKat, I've been using 5.0.2 since the images was up and I'm very pleased.

A massive improvement over 5.0.
No Kool-Aid here.
