anybody jumping to the new note 8?

Do you ever clear your apps cache and your system cache?

Yup. And as a matter if fact a few days ago I ran the "smart cleaner" to clear the cache and the phone completely locked up. Screen went black and unresponsive. I had to pull the battery to get it back. I don't know maybe I got a bad unit but I'm telling you this thing has really gotten bad at around month 11. Real bad! Maybe it's a bad app like someone suggested? Again I've had Notes for years so I'm accustom to phones not aging well but this is ridiculous!

I so had my heart set on the note 8 only to find out it isn't just a simple switch phones... same plan. I'm so bummed. the battery on my v20 ABSOLUTELY SUCKS BEYOND BELIEF! I left the house at 10am today with 80%. talked on phone 40 minutes, surfed the web off and on a little and at 2:30 I was down to 15%. this is honestly killing my love for this phone.
Why not get a replacement battery then? Surely a brand new battery by LG or 3rd party would work better, no?

I'm with Verizon and I still owe about 400 on my V20. I want the V30. what I will probably do is pay off the V20 with my credit card then trade in my V20 to get the note 8. I can get around 360 for the trade in. I'll then get the note 8 on the payment plan (around $6 something) but sell it on Swappa. I'll use that to pay off the remainder of the note 8 and what is left will go back to my credit card. then I'll be completely clear to get the V30 and do it all over again next year.

I know that sounds like a lot of work, but the resale value in the V20 isn't very high.

Verizon isn't even including it with the 50% off on the note 8 deal.
I believe it's 35% on the Note 8 trade in deal for Verizon

I'm holding on to my V20 but will be sacrificing my G4 to the Samsung gods for $300 off of the Note 8.

Someone told me to do a factory reset and reinstall all new apps and it helped a lot honestly.

Joey...

Pick up a couple of new factory batteries and a spare charger.

I rotate my batteries frequently and keep only the apps I use daily on my phone.

When I start loosing battery life I get a different battery. I did this with my v10 as well.

At what percentage do your batteries cut out? My original sometimes turns off at 14 percent.

I ended up using the former Note 7 offer from Samsung to get the Note 8. Found a G4 for $100 on craigslist to use for the trade in and kept my v20 in hopes to sell it for a decent amount. So far I've only gotten scammers replying to my craigslist ad. The value on the v20 tanked which sucks bc it's not even a year old. Of course I'll miss being able to swap a dead battery for a fresh one since I have two spare batteries with a charger, but the battery life with the Note 8 has been phenomenal so far.

Do you know what they are offering as a trade in for the G5

Looks like we are talking to each other on two threads lol. For the Note 7 offer, it was the same amount for all the phones they listed so I found the oldest phone for the least amount. G4-6 was all the same. That's just for the former Note 7 owners offer tho.

I had 2 on my v10 that cut out at 20% and I replaced them. My first v20 I did not have a this on and still have my 3 spare batteries for it. I still rotate them and fwiw everyone else should do the same thing.. Seems to really extend the life of them.

Yes. But I'll keep my v20 as my second phone. Gave my s8 plus to my son, was using it as my second phone. Note 8, it's super sexy!! Of course, I'll get the v30 when it comes out :-)

Mine was at 5 percent just now and didn't die.

I did the Best Buy Pre-order which was $150 off and then trading in the V20 for an additional $336 - Verizon has already sent me the box to trade it in. I liked the V20, but never really loved it. I picked it up in Jan when my Note Edge got cracked and I didn't want to do an insurance claim. Paid it off with my tax return, so that I could get the Note 8 when it came out. I started to get really annoyed with my V20 when I could no longer make calls at my desk at work (from day 1 with my V20), unless I rolled my chair back about 2 feet to get a better signal. Don't have that problem at all with the Note 8.

Regarding the height - it's really not THAT big a difference, in fact they look visually almost the same height, with the Note 8 just a smidge taller. And I like the narrower body and how it fits in my hand vs the V20.

Just as an FYI for those saying that the Note 8 is just a S8 with an S-pen - I present this video. :)

You can always try a different store and see if they will exchange it before you open it 🤔

Good idea, I might try that. I asked her if the S8+ was an option but she said no, it has to be a comparable device. I might try that this weekend though, Thanks!
