Anyone dislike their S3?

Unfortunately I agree about the keyboard. The built in Samsung one was horrible. I've downloaded swiftkey3, and Swype beta and both are tolerable but not on the level of the iPhone. Maybe because I'm new to the phone but the predictability just isn't on par with iOS. Granted I was able to fix this problem I hated how after every press of the spacebar the keyboard tried to guess my next word.

As far as a good music player, double twist has been ok but agreed there seems to be no lock screen support. Nothing as fluid as the iPhone/iTunes but I think Apple dominates the portable music market for a reason.

Overall there are some minor grievances for a diehard Apple geek giving Android a fair shot. Whenever I use my iPad I realize just how well something as simple as cut and paste works in iOS compared to Android.

However I dont think anyone should go into a new platform blindly and you should always do your homework first. But all in all my experience has been a pleasant one. I definitely like the customization of Android. The maturity of this platform coupled with the incredible hardware of the Galaxy SIII make this a great choice for me.

I'm in agreement with this entire post! I couldn't have stated it any better.

HTC's cameras all seem to have the same issue since the Vivid/Amaze4G maybe even the MT4g. Whites look yellow. It's as if they used a yellow backlight in the camera sensor. The white balance seems consistently off. I had the Vivid and it had the same exact issue. I basically had to run every photo (especially indoor photos) through an editing app to correct the white balance. I never had to do that on my Samsung phones (Vibrant, Skyrocket), but even my HD7 had severe white balance issues (except instead of yellow, it was pink/purplish).

Indoors it's a big issue for the white balance as well...

HTC's camera seems to oversaturate the colors a bit. Samsung's cameras tend to have narrower dynamic range and more muted colors, but the colors are more natural and the white balance is more accurate on the Samsung shots, so the entire image looks a bit more "believable." HTC phones can sometimes produce results that look unreal.

I'd take the Samsung over the HTC if those pictures were an indicator.

BTW, it was the same type of comparison when comparing their older phones against each other i.e. the Vivid vs. the Galaxy S2/Skyrocket. Same issues persisted there that persists in the shots above (Oversaturated Colors + Inaccurate White Balance for HTC vs. More Muted (yet accurate) Colors but Superior White Balance). Where HTC has generally held a firm edge was in the actual camera software, which is generally superior to Samsung's (They had Slow Motion 720p and HDR before Samsung, among other things), but Samsung is catching up there and with the GS3 it isn't really a sticking point to stick with HTC just for the camera software anymore.

Since Video is big for me, Samsung has always been superior to HTC for me personally. Their phones have always produced better video. I tried the Vivid and the video (especially audio quality in the video) was atrocious. The One X is better there but still isn't even as good as the Skyrocket from what I've recorded in the carrier store on multiple occasions to test it out.

Hmmm.. I don't get all this about the iP keyboard frankly..Of course I have an iP3G and absolutely HATE the keyboard whether portrait or landscape. Its one of many pet peeves I have with this dinky device (not to mention its slow as hell). Went to the ATT store to play with the S3 and compared it to the Skyrocket for giggles and I was amazed how fast it is. However, during an S Voice test if failed miserably. One can only hope that sometime soon, it will get the 4.1 JB update with the amazing Google Voice Search that's all the buzz now. Now that would make this phone the best thing going!

True indeed. I have a 4S and though it's faster, it's just too cramped. In landscape it's nearly impossible to know what you've typed until you rotate the phone. And then you realize you just asked your mother in law what thong she was wearing. The 4S is a great phone, no matter what people say, but the iPhone would be better served with a larger display, and by result, a larger keyboard. If rumors pan out the lengthened display won't do anything to dissuade me at all. iOS 6 is fluid indeed but at the sacrifice of features. Then look at Jelly Bean and see that you can, in fact, have your cake and eat it too. I feel like iOS features are tweaked for every software release but not revolutionary, like the current system has plateaued. Jelly Bean is looking better and off-line maps and voice will be huge for me. S-Voice has yet to impress.

Well said, I agree!

i noticed that you can't paste anything you copied when you try pasting it on whatsapp. or am i doing something wrong?

Not sure why people are trying to find reasons to make features like Siri and S-Voice more than they are : fluff, at least for the time being.

I just pasted this into whatsapp no problem. Press and hold in the text box.

Not sure about yours but any 4s I've used including my own is not even in the ballpark of the speed of this device. Unless I misunderstood what you said.

I have a few issues with my S III. The keyboard SUCKS. It might be because I have an invisible shield, but I have never had such problem with any other phone with one. I am taking the it off tonight and will try it for a little while. If that isn't the issue, this phone is going back and I will unfortunately have to go back the the 4S.

Have you tried swiftkey3? This app helped me out a lot. I also have an invisible shield on my GS3, and haven't had any issues.

I don't like the fact that not ALL apps (standard and non) don't have an option for 'vibrate ONLY when on silent'.

Just saying...

I'm a little sketchy about third party keyboards, as they can access anything you type on your device, if they want. The S3 keyboard kinda sucks, but I've gotten used to it.

What I don't like is not being able to pause/play/skip music from the lock screen.

Mine is going back.
Video tries to constantly refocus so it goes in and out of blurry.
I've tried 6 different podcast players and none of them work as well as IPhone
I also ant use my favorite audiobook app, it crashes when I try to DL a book, apparently it worked for people until ICS. Other audiobook apps require a lot of extra steps and none include my favorite feature.
Samsung says don't use it while it charges! WTF? So therefore I need a second battery so I can swap em and I wonder if the back case will hold up to that daily.
I did a reset and it didn't help anything.
Also I can text effortlessly on an IPhone , (had original, 3G & 4) but texting on s3 is very frustrating for some reason even with the horrible predictive typing turned off.

I will miss the display, I think it is the perfect size. I will miss the tweaking that is possible and yet sometimes I want it to just do what it is supposed to do so I miss how IPhone just works seamlessly.
I will REALLY miss being able to use micro SD for cheap swappable storage.

Forgot to mention the bad speaker placement though I was starting to get used to it, guess we aren't supposed to ever lay our phone down on its back?

Mostly I feel the apps aren't as good as IPhones.

Smiles,
Rebecca

I know exactky what you're talking about. The iPhone just works! I think Google has done a wonder job with Android moving forward from ICS, but it is the little things that needs polishing. The iPhone doesn't doing things on a grand scale like high end Android phones, but what it does do, it does it well.

Never the less, I'm sticking with my Galaxy S3. The keyboard is a mess, but for the most part SwiftKey 3 has fixed that for me.

There are other coveats, but the capabilities of Android far out weigh those. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the iPhone, but it doesn't offer you the bility to do things with it like Android does. Hopefully Google will conitue to improve Android, and get the developers on board with creating awesome apps.

I guess if I went back I would be miserable, but I feel you though. Hope it works out for ya. Oh yeah, one more thing. About the camera, did you take the unit back, because you make have been having some soft or hardware issues.

Good post. As for keyboards, give ICS Keyboard Full a shot. Stone theme. I'm one of those that came from the iPhone and tried them all. It doesn't look like iPhone layout but it's easily the best I've tried if you want simple and quick without fluff and confusion.

Thanks for the recommendation. I looked at the video, and full ICS Keyboard full looks to ha e pretty much the sane functionality.

...you rate the ICS over SwiftKey 3?

Well to be honest, I watched the video on it and determined it does the same thing swiftkey3 does. They even look the same to me, besides when I bought the GS3 I purchased swiftkey3.

Have you used both, if so what is the difference?

I didn't like the default keyboard on my S III. I 'tried' Swiftkey 3, and was hooked. I like the fact that it 'learns' your typing and words, etc. Rather priceless if you ask me...

Love it 99% of the time.

Don't like mms or non group sms (coming from iphone).

Viewing the screen outside isn't great.

Way better than my iphone 4. I personally think it's the best phone available for me on the market.
