Anyone Else Trying To Keep Battery Charge To No More Than 80%?

I mean in theory, he's probably correct. But in daily practice, it's a little bit too stifling for me.

The only thing I try avoid is letting it get down to below 20 %, and at all costs I avoid 0% .
The battery charging debate is nothing new, specifically proven, or even exclusive to the S10. Everytime a new phone comes out it seems to come up. If there isn't a a sticky somewhere, there should be.

You have to remember that 0% on your display isn't really 0%.

The phone's protect themselves to a certain extent.

Nope. I don't have that kind of time to waste monitoring my phone battery. I've never had any issues with my batteries. I use my phone all day long and charge at night if I need to charge during the day I will as needed.
Exactly this^

I will charge over 80% but usally unplug around 85-90%. If anything I try and not let my battery drop below the 35% mark ever.

I believe in taking care of my phones... as much as is practical. Truth be told I always seem to have more than one phone (that I alternate on a weekly basis) and I don’t think I keep a phone long enough to notice battery degradation. I avoid running my phones down below 20% but I often charge them up to 100%. My other half has been known to let his phone just die which I completely don’t understand, but it’s his phone.

This whole 20-80% thing I feel like is geared towards people that keep their phones long term../or at least much longer than I do.

I do too, but sometimes it gets pretty low. I am in the new every year or so. That being said I don't worry much, wireless at home work and car, so it gets bump charged often.

Given the time I sell and upgrade I stop worrying about little things like this.

Same here.. thing is some try to keep it between 40 to 80 and that would drive me insane.

BTW....100 is not 100 either....lol

I generally charge from 15% to 100%. It's not like the battery will degrade to the point where it won't hold a charge within 1-2 years. By that time, I'll have upgraded.

Worst-case, I believe my insurance policy has a clause for 1 free battery replacement. When I had an issue with a phone that had a sealed battery years ago, they just replaced the whole phone.

You had some people on this forum worried if they could get the new S10, before their old phone was even paid off. So I don't think it's something most people worry about.

Nope, I generally keep mine fully charged for the most part, I don't think my battery ever drops below 50%. I don't go out of my way to do this, I work from home so I always have a charger of some sort. Never really worried about it, but I change phones often, never have one more than a year. I also like to have a full charge in case something happens where I have to be somewhere and won't have access to a charger.

I keep my charge range between 20-45% (low range) to 90%. I tried 80% but this range usually gets me through the day without thought and the most important thing is not fully charging to 100 all the time and not always draining to 0. When needed I'll charge fully when I know I'll be on a road trip or discharge fully when no choice so no worries there.

My Note 8 was a pre-order launch phone so had it a year and a half and still running great. If you believe in accuracy of accubattery app, my phone still has around 91% capacity left so I'm pretty happy to keep following charge range if it helps a little.

No one says you can't top off during day too if you're having a extra busy day so no biggie to set it on the wireless pad now and then.

Also, all my charging is with fast charging disabled which I believe is more a factor in helping battery life.

Everything I've read about LiIon batteries suggests that you will extend their ability to effectively hold a charge considerably by avoiding charging to anything over about 85% or letting it run down to anything below 10%.

Anyone else trying to stay in the 20% - 80% range or are you just fully charging up to 100% without any concern?

i do just this.

The main reason i upgraded to 10+ plus is battery life

I always try to extract the maximum from anything i do or use......

No point of charging to 100% if am at home all day or have my power bank with me.

The phone charges soo quickly, I've got into the habit of charging my phone randomly for 10/15 mins or so if am at anything from 20% to 50%. i have the wireless charger so easy as drop it on . If i know i'll have a long day out i might charge to 100%

Nope...no time to be that precise. I charge at anywhere between 30-60 percent, and I have a charging alarm that goes off once my battery hits 100%. I pretty much stick to that, but there are times when I dip under 30%. I NEVER charge my phone overnite.

I don't expect to keep a phone for more than 2yrs - skip the interim bumps & go for the new phone bi-yearly....this year's the note 10. As such I don't care about battery, just charge it fully & go! Did the same since iPhone 4.....gave that to my son after 2yrs & battery was fine to 5yrs then started dying....slowly. Stress will kill you quicker than ya battery charging regime

While I seldom keep my phones more than two years, I have always taken every opportunity to top off my battery. While on long road trips or at the office, it stays plugged in. That's probably a bad habit that I started with my first Blackberry. Software optimization and power management seems to be getting better with each iteration of premium smartphone. So far, even when I am out running errands all day or traveling through airports or am away from a plug, I let the battery discharge normally. This is not to say that there isn't a spare wireless battery charger in in my backpack that I have very seldom had to pull out and use.
