Anyone else waiting for Apple to reveal the iPhone 8 before buying the Note 8?

I'm definitely curious of the the iPhone 8.. But It's going to take an external SDcard slot to sway me into an iPhone 8... I do a lot of gaming and Android apps have the best video game emulators... Android phones also let you download and add the needed rom files / folders right out of the box.. Android phones are also download friendly for lots of other good stuff and not just gaming.. Like sending apps to other Android devices.. I will say.... The iPhone has always been known for its simplicity, reliability, and camera.. I had several way back.. The N8 may have just evened the playing field though with its new dual camera setup.. Plus the latest 18:9 Android screens look gorgeous.. Displaying rich colors and deep blacks. :)

Here you go, I found the snippets of the first few paragraphs of Tim Cook's speech ;-). Sorry u couldn't find the rest.

"Last year, we made the courageous and groundbreaking move of removing the 3.5mm headphone jack. This year in another courageous move, we've removed the home button (wild applause)."

"Instead, we've introduced the first ever 3D facial scanning technology that is so good at instantly recognizing your face, the NSA tried to prevent us from releasing it on a phone. It can detect your face during the day, at night, if you're wearing sunglasses, makeup, a fake or real mustache, or even if you've had mild* plastic surgery! It can recognize it from the front, back, or either side, or even from the top of your head should you prefer to log into your phone that way."

"The iPhond X is now the first cell phone with absolutely no buttons. Yet it remains the phone with the most intuitive UI in the world."

"This year, we have created the first of its kind, amazing, astonishing, BeyondInfiniti(TM) Display with no bezels* (3mm). This allows us to fit the largest display of any phone on the market, at 5.8" diagonal, 0.3" larger than the iPhone 7 Plus' display, yet in a body only slightly larger than that of the regular iPhone 7. Add to the first ever charging without cables system. We call it Zi(TM) wireless charging, and along with our new, proprietary iWirelessCharger, which costs only an additional $199.99, will allow you to just place your beautiful, stunning, world changing iPhone X on the charger for it to immediately begin charging. It charges from 0 to 50% in an astonishing world record time of 3 hours, and gets to 100% in an amazing 8 hours and 20 minutes."

"We've made this possible by using a brand new material on the back of the phone that unlike metal, allows for completely wireless charging. This material is a patent pending material known as 'iGlass'."

"In another courageous first, we've also completely removed the thunderbolt port so that all charging can be done wirelessly. This makes the iPhone X the first phone ever with no holes or ports anywhere except for the speakegrille and microphones. It also means that like last year's iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, the iPhone X Is IP68 water resistant, but this time we encourage you to swim with it, and have even introduced a new selfie mode called 'swim wave selfie'. The best part is that you can now purchase as many iWirelessChargers as you want, one for home, one for work, and one for the road on the off chance that you run out of juice despite us having a whopping 2,300mAH battery on board. The iWirelessChargers come in colors that perfectly match those of the phone."

"The iPhone X also introduces yet another world first, the first Active Matrix, Organic Light- Emitting Diode display. We call this technology AMOLED (TM). This will make black colors much blacker and deeper than any black colors have ever seen. So deep, that you may get lost as you stare into our amazing, astonishingly beautiful screen, which now also feature another world first, Quad HD resolution (even Wilder applause)."
For those who thought my "Zi Wireless charging" sarcasm was off base, it looks like Apple is indeed introducing a proprietary wireless charging system for the iPhone X/Edition. Gotta love Apple. https://www.forbes.com/sites/ewansp...ew-leak-rumor-wireless-charging/#707cd34d1823

Waiting to buy till the iPhone comes out

Not that I want the new iPhone. I'm hoping Samsung drops some specials when the iPhone is released to entice people to buy the Note instead of an iPhone.

Re: Waiting to buy till the iPhone comes out

Not a bad idea. I couldn't wait myself and am super glad I preordered. Mine is on the delivery truck as we speak.

The greed is astounding. I've never owed an iPhone and doubt I ever will. The operating system is just too boring for me. The locked down ecosystem to limited for me. The price to get a comparable Android experience too much for my pocket.

Too late. I already put down some money on the Note. I am still waiting to see what the iPhone 8 brings though.

Was wondering why so much dislike for the iPhone on this thread then realized it's in the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 forum

I switch back and forth between android and iPhone. What's sad is I been using the LG G6 for the last 3 months. Great phone but started having lag so switched my SIM card to my back up iPhone 6 Plus phone, close to 2 yrs old. And the iPhone runs as smooth if not more smooth than the LG g6. Apps in general are smoother and better optimized on the iOS like social media apps and even TapaTalk

I'm not an Apple fanboy and not hating on android just shocks me how a 2 year old, 2 generation old iPhone runs as smooth or better than a 3-4 month old flagship android

Anyways I almost preordered a Note 8, but now more interested in the iPhone 8

And btw if you know how you can play most emulators and do almost the same thing on iPhone as on android. In fact was just playing some emulators on my iPhone with the same controller I was using on my LG G6. Just gotta know how. And my iPhone is NOT jail broken

On Android Central too :-).

Personally I don't hate the iPhone as much as my posts may suggest. But I do think it's a lot less productive for my needs. What I do dislike is Apple's pretending like everything they ever follow with is some amazing invention of theirs and that many people actually buy that.

That happens a bit on both sides, but Apple could have trademarked the words"amazing, incredible", etc. It would be nice if they showed some humility every now and then. They innovate once every year or two. The rest of the time they're playing catch up or adding features they criticized their competitors for just a year or two ago (eg. AMOLED is finally coming to the iPhone Edition, but I'm sure they'll claim their AMOLED is somehow superior.)

Good point about Android Central. I usually use Tapatalk for all my different forums so most of the time I have no clue which forum or site I'm visiting

definitely waiting for the iPhone 8 reveal, 10th anniversary should be good!

While I agree the hardware improvements should be nice for sure the software is no different than ever. I have used iOS 11 and it is no different than iOS 10 now or any others before it. So while I may enjoy holding a new device with new hardware i can see it quickly fading since the software is essentially the same again for like to 10th year in a row. This years improvement was more of a upgrade for the iPads than anything.

Well the iPhone 8 will finally be revealed tomorrow. I originally planned to hold off getting the Note 8 because I wanted to see what Apple has in store for their new iPhone, but I'm glad I didn't wait. I got my Note 8 on Friday and loving it!

While hardware wise I'm sure the new iPhone will sport some cool features it's the software that gets me. Even ios 11 is the same old stuff. I used the beta and was not impressed. That's what I'm really waiting for. Is a complete overhaul of the software since thats what you use anyway. I doubt that will ever happen.
