Hi Folks:

Support for a web ui and usage from a computer of Google Messages was announced yesterday. While the web app is available, it requires that the app on the phone include a menu to select it.

In mine at least, Messages does not include this yet. I'm assuming they're doing a slow rollout of the upgrade for whatever reason. Just wondering if anyone has gotten it already.

Thanks

It's a server side switch, if you have it the option will appear in 3.3.043 or higher.

Just checked and my latest update is 3.3.043! I'll be exploring the new options on my Pixel 2 XL, and especially the option for texting from my computer! (I do most of my work, like replying to this post, on my Windows 10 computer.)

When it goes live your 3 dot menu will have this

Got it. Looks alright, a bit delay in updating, but otherwise fine. If it works as I hope, it might replace Pulse on my phone.

The current version of Messages is 3.3.043 but that doesn't mean you'll have messages for web option, after you get the web option you'll still be on 3.3.043. We should all have it in the next week but hopefully sooner.

just got it within the last 30 minutes. just showed up

I have the Google Pixel and seem to be stuck on Android Messages version 3.2.042. I even tried uninstalling (to factory). I then "updated" but only put it back to 3.2.042...

The app update with Web Messages support is rolling out slowly. My wife's Z2 Play just received the app update. But nothing for my Z Force yet. It takes time to hit all phones, I guess.

So what happened to the Pixel being a priority device for updates? I have been feverishly checking my phone for the past two days.

I feel like Charlie Brown collecting rocks at Halloween. My Messages app got updated to 3.3.044, but I still don't have a "Messages for web" option.

This isn't about the Pixel, or any phone. This is an app update through the Play Store
