Anyone Getting the "Itch"

Thanks. I just can’t figure out how it happened. Was it someone behind me? Couldn’t have been the 90 year old cashier right? Ugh. Drives me nuts thinking about how

I've had every flagship save the V30 from LG, had an S8+, and iPhone 7 and 7 Plus and now a Note8. I've got no itch to switch from the N8 atm.

Well....I got the itch and I scratched it. Got an iPhone 8 Plus and still have my Note 8 and now I’m having the issue of which one do I wanna use more. Ugh. It’s maddening. I can’t pick a device. I love that Note 8 but I also love the apple ecosystem which I am deeply in with my iMac and iPad and the kids. Sucks. I literally don’t know what the right choice is. Anyone have advice?

Yup That's a toughie alright. The Note 8 is the only Android device that makes it easy for me to take a long-ish hiatus from Apple phones. When I boot up my Iphone 8+ it's gravity keeps pulling me back in though. Maybe I'll try wrapping it in tin foil and put it at the bottom of my sock drawer. That's how much I like the Note 8 :-)

On that note I miss the irascible Steve Jobs and feel that Apple hasn't had a game changer since his passing. RIP

Re: Anyone Getting the "Itch"

Well all I have to do is look at the Samsung debit transaction in my account history and the itch is scratched. When I feel the need to switch things up I can always alternate with my V20 or customize with some new themes or what have you. I invested in the VR headset and a number of other accessories to keep things interesting so barring any catastrophic failures I'm gong to be in this committed relationship for the long run.

Yea that sucks. One of the reasons I use cash for everything. It's funny though, it's like an ancient payment method. Cashiers never know what to do with it and it takes them forever to count change!

Well I went back to my Note 8. I'm sure I'll be swapping back and forth with the iPhone 8 plus but let's just say all is right again lol

Not itching for something new necessarily, but this is about the time each year when I start getting antsy for rumors/info about the next Note!

Back the truck up. You are saying someone hacked Samsung pay? Not saying it can't happen as anything can be hacked, BUT...
They would have to bypass biometric, password, tokenization, be within 2 inches, have a way to use that info, and somehow, SOMEHOW just happen to have the equipment at the same time someone was using mobile payments, which is a rarity. All for $48

Did you notice the charges were in Samsung pay or on your debit card?

If it's true you need to make some real noise at Samsung.

I doubt it was from the mobile payment. The card pulsed is a token card and in addition to that a security token is generated once you initiate payment that has an expiration timer. That person would have to do a lot more then just be near to swipe their card from Samsung Pay to use.

Below more on how that works...

Samsung Pay does not store the account or credit card numbers of cards on the device, instead using tokenization for transactions. Each time a purchase is made, the Samsung Pay handset sends two pieces of data to the payment terminal. The first is a 16-digit token that represents the credit or debit card number, while the second piece is a one-time code or cryptogram generated by the phone's encryption key.

I'm a little disgruntled with Samsung Pay. Used it at Win Dixie and next thing I know there were two charges that were not mine. One was a small$3 test charge it seemed and then a $45 one right after from that same store. How on Earth did my mobile pay get hacked?
Have you ever used your debit in that store or any other store within that area? There are many places it could be swiped. I really doubt it was from Samsung Pay.

It happened right after I used it within minutes. So you tell me. And I did not use my physical card that day. Or all week for that matter. How did it happen then?

There card readers that only have to be near your wallet to copy your card info. Happens everyday. Not sure if that's what happened but it's a possibility

It's too early for the "itch" really, what new phones are being released with the S-Pen? Tried one without back when the Note 7 got recalled. Nope, missed the S-Pen too much.

You seem to think the fraud would have to occur soon after the theft of your data, without delay. Why would you assume that?
