Anyone Getting the "Itch"

Re: Anyone Getting the "Itch"

I have been using the Note series since the first one came out except for the 4th. The consistent problem is that the battery life starts to dwindle within 2 months coming out of the box & that is a real frustration. The features ofcourse are par excellence but after seeing the performance of 1+ phones it's a feeling of jealousy....Why the Note can't have the same power.

I hear a lot about the battery, but I haven't chad any issues. Battery life is really good for me. And I feel I use my Note8 all day long constantly.

Well, I got an Itch for a tablet lol. Ended up getting the Tab S3 through Verizon, since Tmobile didn't offer it in their no interest payment plan. Love this thing! And the Note 8 of course.

Working in a manufacturing enviroment I found the galaxy note was the best tool for me. It allows me to trace out hydraulic lines in a single picture, and provide the information or feedback quickly. The built in stylist allows me to jot down designs on the fly verify its the part that needs to be made.
With apps like artflow I can doodle or edit photos while I'm on the phone in a meeting, and provide images so everyone is on the same page. My employer provides I phones to us, but the features paired with some apps always seem to outshine other handsets.

No itch here, absolutely love this thing... So much so that I took the gold one, because I couldn't wait for my carrier to get more black ones.
I've had it for 5 months, love the camera, the display is stunning, and the SPen is so amazingly cool.

Battery life: bluetooth is on for 10 hrs every day, I play games, read and write e-mails, browse the net, reddit and facebook, and at the end of the day I still have 40% left - I **** you not.

I would just love to get some nice high-res wallpapers, to make use of that screen....

Have you tried any of the Samsung Wallpapers or the Wallpapers on Zedge? They have some good ones:)

I definitely have the itch. I have a Nexus 6P that I wanna upgrade from, but I really don't know what to get. Obviously, the Note 8 is considered to be at the top of the heap, but with MWC starting this weekend, new phones will start coming out, including the S9+ and HTC U12, as well as LG's offerings, and the Note 9 and the Pixel phones later in the year.

But then in 2019, we'll get 5G capable phones, with 7nm processors. So, I'm torn about whether I should spend now, or wait. I certainly don't take spending $1,000+ when all is said and done lightly.

Buy now worry later. Just because the phone will have 5G capabilities (maybe) doesn't mean the networks will be anywhere near ready. Most networks claim 2020 when they will launch 5G. Key word there: launch. Not "5g everywhere like LTE" as some seem to think :P.

That's a good point. The thing that I hate about the Note 8, though, is the FPS placement. I know the S9+ addresses that, but then I think, if I really wanna get the best bang for my buck, why not get the Note?

I also care about audio through earbuds, though, so I'm glad they're keeping the headphone jack. But again, do I go Note 8, or do I wait to see what they do in the S9+ with the stereo speakers? Will the phone have a DAC, similar to the V30? I'm not a heavy user, so I'll need whatever phone I get to have good call quality, reception and excellent standby time.

The FPS became a non issue for me as it has become very natural to use now. But, if you are in the market for a new device, why not get the latest and greatest that's right around the corner?

Re: Anyone Getting the "Itch"

Based on leak specs, I would hold off on any upgrades until you see that device in person. Either way, note 8 has been a stellar device. I have had no issues with it. The size of it is perfect and it continues to run smooth. I do wish the camera quality was better and I agree with the finger print placement, but those issues, I can easily get over.

I'm a guy that usually carries a few phones with me, came from iPhone 7 Plus, had and loved, the Note 7, but after everything that happened with that line, I told myself I wouldn't go back to Samsung. I held off waiting for the iPhone 10 but decided to give it another go with Note 8.

Best decision ever made, I'm more involved with the community since we all share a common interest.

I would say, my only concern is how relavent will the note 8 stay. I don't really care about the popularity, but I do care about future updates and potential OS version upgrades.

I've seen from the past, the note line gets a lot of attention but starts to drift off.

I have a Note 8. I have had just about every phone on the planet, and personally speaking, the Note 8 is the KING of phones. Now it does depend on your preferences. Some people have a thing for the LGphones, some for the Google / Nexus type phones. For me, the Note 8 has everything I could want in a phone and then some. There are some decent deals out now on them, depending on the carrier you are with - some trade in deals and unlocked version deals direct on Samsung, etc.

I LOVE this phone and nothing, to me, has ever come close to it. Well, the Samsung S8+ is a pretty good player in the game lol. :)

No itch I love the note8 so far. I'm on jump though so if the note9 is awesome I may jump, but there isn't another phone on the market right now that I would trade for.

same here - well I'm on Jump On Demand. Got my Note 8 on Sept 7. I was told I could jump to an S9+ if I chose to, and could jump back to a Note 8, as long as the note 8 was still part of the regular offerings.

One of the things I'm looking forward to is keeping my Note8 for a full two years and being wowed when I actually upgrade to the NoteX. I haven't kept a smartphone for two years since my HTC Tilt back in 2007.
I'll find a reason to justify upgrading to Note 9 no matter how silly that reason is

The only things I hate about the Note 8 is that it's absolutely gorgeous but so so fragile and the god awful FPS location on the back. Both issues are negated fairly well with a case however but you do lose the beauty of the phone

Love the note 8.
Never had any issues with the FPS, it's a true non issue.
The camera - I'm the limiting factor here. How anybody can have an issue with it is amazing.

I'm on the note annual upgrade program here. So as long as there IS a note 9 and it's released around the same time, I'm in :)

Welp, I picked up a Pixel 2, and my Note 8 is currently sitting on my nightstand ATM. I won't give my Note 8 up but right now I am trying the Pixel as my daily phone. I prefer the Note 8s display though for sure. But the software on this Pixel is super light and efficient.

Do not have the itch yet, but the rumored specs for the Note 9 are interesting. I'd like to get Oreo up on the Note 8 and see what that does?
