Anyone going to upgrade from the S20 Ultra to the Note Ultra?

It's still a downgrade in screen resolution no matter how you slice it. The fact that it might use less battery is a separate issue and might be preferable for some. Same with the plastic back...its a downgrade in material, however, plastic does have a higher durability factor if dropped.
IMO, the back really doesn't matter as majority of phones are in cases.

If a phone has a plastic back (and especially if it also has a plastic frame) it wouldn't be as risky to rock it without a case because I believe plastic is more flexible and absorbs shocks better than glass and metal do , though a tempered glass protector would still be advised if the screen is glass.

And since we're talking about a premium phone here, the most plastic we'd get would be the back panel only
It would be a very wise move in terms of durability and helping the phone get lighter.

I agree. Just pointing out that plastic back might not be a big issue. Wonder about the scratch resistance on the plastic if you use without a case?

It's highly subjective. A blind test where the subject would not be told what they are looking at is needed. With technological improvements we are told what is better then the subjective back and forth, as shown here on this site, begins anew.
The resolution is not subjective. Higher resolution is better. Whether you can see the difference or the difference is worthwhile can be argued but you can't change facts.

It's what the human says it is. There are 7 billion pairs of those.

You can definitely see the difference putting two screens side by side watching something in high resolution. The question becomes, does it matter to you on a small screen.

You can see the difference but this may not be apparent to everyone else. Technically speaking a higher resolution screen yields a more pleasing result but to what point can the human eye detect a difference? It varies by the individual I suppose.

We can go round and round, but again, that doesn't change the technical aspect that a lower resolution is a downgrade. The question for the consumer is... is the Note 20 worth the asking price to the average comsumer?

Technically it is a wonder yet it remains what the human eye can detect. Why wouldn't it be worth the asking price with such an outstanding technological pedigree? Sales will tell i suppose.

Just compare it to devices with similar features

No LTPO display, same fingerprint scanner, smaller battery, same gimped 120hz display, looks like I'll just stick with the S20 Ultra.

I am a little disappointed as well. Literally a tweaked ultra with a smaller battery and an s pen. Sometimes shiny new toy syndrome gets to me but this looks like a pass. Unless tbe variable refresh rate is a game changer battery wise the note 20 ultra may actually be a downgrade. The fold 2 looks far more compelling.

If I still had my ultra 20 I think I would just stick with that. The note 20 release is just another example of the S series and note series only being separated by the S pen.

Very interested in the Z Fold... Also the Note 20 Ultra is technically cheaper than the S20 Ultra so it is a good choice for someone who hasn't purchased either.

I just realized that the regular Note 20 is the same price as the regular S20. Wonder if the will drop the price of the S20 to boost sales.
