Anyone having trouble with push notifications?

I've been reading a long thread at the Oneplus 3 forum regarding a issue with push notifications failing when the device has been idle for 20-30 minutes, A lot of users are stating they have this problem with apps like Whatsapp, Gmail, & Hangouts. The cause seems to be the way Marshmallow uses doze. (Also, this issue doesn't occur if the phone is on a charger).
I was kind of surprised to not see any mention of it here. Has anyone here noticed this behavior?

I'm holding off purchasing an OP3 until this issue can be solved or dismissed.

I noticed it a little on the 2, not so much on the 3 yet (probably because I'm playing with it a lot lol) but tbh I just assumed it was a"feature" of doze.

This does seem to be a problem with Gmail. Other phones have had the same issues with Gmail if I recall correctly. I think the Nexus phones had that problem. It is probably a Doze issue. I will have to watch other apps. I cannot be missing emails. This is the first problem I have had with the phone, but it could be a killer.

Yep, I have this problem. I have to admit, its pretty rare I let my phone go idle for that long, but for instance in a church service or yoga, when I go to check the phone, boom a ton of alerts all of a sudden push in. It's not the worst thing in the world and it doesn't bother me much. But it definitely does this.

Are you guys aware you can turn battery optimisation off for certain apps (Gmail for example), by the way? it is in the battery menu.

The battery optimization method has been tried and unfortunately didn't help (as has raising the apps to be priority). So far the only solution has been to disable the doze function via ADB. Of course if you reboot the phone, you have to go through the steps to disable it again. After doing some research into this issue, the doze function seems to be common problem on many phones with Marshmallow.

It surely can. Other phones with Marshmallow (6.0) have exhibited similar problems with the new "doze" function. The Nexus 6P had it and was recently fixed with an OTA update. I've seen some threads in the Samsung S7 forums about this also.
So, the question is "when" will this be addressed by Oneplus?

I can live with this behaviour as you describe it. Some of the commentary over in the OnePlus forums seem to indicate it's more problematic than that, to the point that some notifications aren't being received at all. To the point that people are rooting their phones, modifying files etc - which I really don't want to do (or feel I should need to do in order to receive notifications on a phone).

So I guess I'm also asking now that people have had the OP3 for a few more days, how big of an issue is this? Are people not receiving some notifications? Of all the glitches I've read about, this concerns me the most. Thanks.

I have not had any issues. All my notifications come in without problem whether my device is in doze or not.

I think if you have a ton of stuff incoming then maybe somethings get lost in the shuffle? I have to admit that sometimes it feels like christmas morning when the notifications come bursting in. But I am pretty sure I don't use as many apps as most, since I do not take part in the social media extravaganza that is SnapChat, Instagram, Periscope, etc. Maybe this could be a problem for some that have a lot of notifications. I think the most I got hit with was 7. But I don't notice that I miss them entirely.

Thanks! My OP3 actually arrived last night and so far so good. I'm still working things out as far as Nova Prime (first time trying) and OOS in general but the basic notification functionality, ambient display etc seem to be working just fine.

Sad to say that the recent 3.2.0 update failed to fix this huge bug. How long are they going to ignore this?

Hi, I've been using one plus 3 since a year now. Of late, I started facing some issues with the phone. I have stopped receiving notifications for apps like Gmail and splitwise. I checked multiple times, my notifications are turned on. I don't leave my phone idle at all. I need to keep refreshing inbox to check for mails now. It is really annoying and scary that I might miss important mails. Does anyone have any solution to this without modifying the root files?
