Anyone putting stock in Dec 15th?

Stopped by my local verizon store late this evening (east coast) and the Galaxy Nexus was out on display. Played with it for about 20 min. Pretty nice overall. I didn't ask if they had any for sale, is it out on display at all VzW stores but just not available for purchase?

interesting since every other place does not have them displayed. Jw where location wise were you?

Sorry to add fuel to the fire, folks, but this is worth sharing.

"There is indeed a conference call tonight, scheduled for 9 PM ET...."

What?? Who the heck has a conference call at 9pm. Not buying that rumor even a little bit.

I was the guy who posted earlier about the meeting tonight and the Radio Shack & the Verizon rep... I called the Raido Shack that I went to tonight to see if he heard anything back from the Verizon rep... he said that he was curious and called him, but got his voicemail.... so no word tonight... hopefully he'll reach out to me tomorrow...

BTW.... after re-reading my post from earilier I may not have been clear on the conversation that was had between the Radio Shack manager and the Verizon rep. The Verizon rep said that it was a supply issue with the devices... however, I was NOT clear on how it was implied by the Verizon rep.... The rep "implied" that the VERIZON Stores had a minimal quanity of devices.... Some stores has 5 devices while others had 20 and some had no devices what-so-ever.

Maybe its me thinking outside the box, but I could see how that could impact a release date. Here is a major internet company "Google" partnered with a major wirelss company "Verizon" ...and your business partner has a limited supply of the devices.... again, not supporting or agreeing with the idea, but just a thought....

And by the way, I call total BS on blaming the latest delay on stock problems.

Samsung just announced today that they have sold 300 million handsets in 2011.
http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-announces-300-million-handsets-sold-2011

Believing that production has kept up with demand, they would be manufacturing an average of 1 million handsets a day.

I just don't think that they would have any trouble knocking out 100k Nexuses or whatever the launch requires.

Well, if Verizon works like any other retailer, stores are allocated stock based on sales and past metrics. So while some stores may not have a lot, they may not NEED a lot. (In other words, I don't buy that as a reason for delay. The ONLY reason I could see stock levels being the reason is if there was some shipping delay that caused stock levels to be short of what they were supposed to be)

I think shipping delay may be more a reason than lack of stock. As you said some stores will get more than others no matter what. It is all about sales and stores that sell the most get the most.

And that would be a reasonable delay. But Verizon needs to sack up and say something if that's the case.

I've had conference calls at 9am, 11am, 7pm, and 10pm, and everywhere in between. In retail these calls happen as business allows, which is often early in the morning or later in the evening.

The only thing we'll hear from Verizon about this is a release date. People should stop thinking that Verizon owe's or will tell us a reason for the wait.

Yeah boi! 1st day on the job at Cellular Sales and what did I see? I spied to me surprise a Samsung Sexy Nexy that truly mesmerized! Beautiful! Was training so I only played with it a minute or two...can't wait in my Bart Scott voice....until when you ask? The 15th as I was informed by my trainer and it is REQUIRED that I purchase a VZ dub...oh thee agoneeee!

Verizon doesn't owe us anything, but they need to start acting like most other corporations. There's something seriously wrong with your corporate culture if you can't even be upfront with your customers about reasonable problems that are causing delays.

Okay, so that was weird I guess.....here are some pics taken with my iPhone 4S......@Atlanta store @Perimeter.

The funny thing is that the device was playing the demo for the droid x.

Only a vzw demo phone would be doing this, playing a demo for the other phone. Maybe it is to cover up that it is a nexus.

I loved being able to play with the actual device.....I was surprised that it was actually on display after reading about the never ending delays. I was there with a friend that was deciding on a new phone. I told him either the Galaxy Nexus or iPhone 4S. He has the the iphone 4 currently.
